i was supposed to go there last night as well.... supposedly a lot of my friends were there but by the time we made it that way, everyone had bailed. seems like it was the popular spot to be last night. i live right down the street but have never been
You should check it out, a bunch of kids from my law school went so I'm not sure what its like on a normal night. But definitely a nice bar with a good dance floor.
Cool thread. I'm gonna be out of college soon and will be moving back to Houston, so I'm gonna be looking for a good place to hang out, preferably something of the college aged crowd. Btw, I looked at some reviews of different places on citysearch and Pub Fiction has a lot of reviews which say they discriminate in letting people in. Anyone here have any problems or are they just sore about not being let in? Not that I'd go some place where I have to be picked and chosen to be allowed in. Also, are there any good piano bars here?
I live across the street from Pub Fiction and go there quite a bit. I've never had any trouble getting in (I'm asian) but I know a couple people that have. Their dress code policy varies by who is checking ids and who is trying to get in. I had 2 black friends go in on the same night, one got in wearing sneakers and the other one got denied because he was wearing sneakers. Then just the other night another buddy of mine (white dude) got rejected for wearing sneakers but there were people all over the place in shoes and I think one guy was in thong sandals.
Lot's of places to hang out, Howl at the Moon is the most famous piano bar and its right across the street from Pub Fiction. Midtown and Rice Village are great places for college crowds. Looking to move closer to these areas myself in a few months. Out in Katy at the moment.
I'm digging the places on Westheimer near Montrose - Catbird's and Boondocks, mostly. It's pretty much all scenesters, but the girls are cute and the drinks are cheap
yeah, i need to hit up a few of those places. the pub fiction/drake/roof bar type places i can handle only in moderation. whiskey creek for example is loaded to the brim with talent, unfortunately you cant move because they pack people in that place in like sardines. kelvin arms in the village is a solid pub.
