Beltway 8 between I-10 and 59 has been shut down. That's my road to work too ... it's definitely a work from home day today.
Anyone know if UH main is closed? I did a search and came up with everything else but UH. UH is infamous for announcing these types of things. Here's a list of schools and work I did find though: http://www.khou.com/news/local/stories/khou090428_tnt_school-closings-delays.11b6ffb5e.html?npc
I seriously thought of staying home today, but I didn't think my boss would buy it. So I get to work....only to find out he's not coming in.... And I took the park and ride in, so I can't leave until 3 at the earliest. Looks like I've got half the floor to myself today. I guess I'll be on CF all day. Wait....that's every day.
Sounds like they think the sun will come out for a while....which will stir things up again and get us in a similar pattern late this afternoon.
Last time it rained this hard the Rockets blew out the Blazers in Portland in Game 1. Is this a sign?
The streets here are so flooded that people are actually Kayaking on it. No BS. Yet I get a text from work saying we are all still expected to be at work today. Even though the roads are closed right next to the office at Beltway and Westpark area. Gotta love corporate America.
I live in Spring, we had hail at about 2 in the morning and rain all night. Saw alot of standing water on my way to work, but after leaving about 20-30 minutes later than normal it was no problem getting to work. But hell, there is no one here. I am going to stay until around 3 and then get out of here.
Dude, Edgebrook gets flooded with a 10 minute sprinkle. I imagine it's pretty much under water. I drove in to downtown from 45 S (Fuqua P&R). Got there no problem.
I think it took less time from the west loop park and ride into downtown via 288 than it does on a normal day. i was looking forward to sleeping on the bus...oh well.
I did my bike commute, and am glad I did. I had considered driving, but cars couldn't get to Chimmney Rock via either Braeswood. Insane stuff, with the bayou only a few feet away from topping. Had to make a pay phone collect call to my wife to warn her off of the surface streets. She's still not at work, and where she works in Montrose is highly prone to shin deep flooding. Evan
I'm such a deep sleeper, I've slept through storms, hurricanes, and tornadoes. But that one thunder clap last night somewhere around 4 (moes said it was 4:20) scared the **** out of me. It was an eardrum-piercing sound. Fell asleep fairly quickly after that, but that totally knocked me off-guard. One of my classes was canceled before all of this bruhaha anyways, so I don't think I will be going...
