    While that is true.

The hypocrisy comes when Bush says he listens to the generals but removes the ones that don't tell him what he wants to hear and puts in place those who do.

Not always. If we had left it to the generals Korea would've turned into WWIII and the Cuban Missile Crisis a nuclear war.

I agree with the idea of overally civillian control but quite a bit of deference should be given to the generals. Still there are some decisions that are better left to civilian leadership.

Personally, I don't see asking for a timeline as "micromanagement."

My boss asks me for timelines every day, but I don't believe she micromanages me unless she starts telling me HOW to meet the timeline.

If Bush won't give us a timeline, it is up to the Congress to tell the President, Pentagon, and everyone else involved exactly how long they will continue to fund this debacle.

I agree its hypocritical in terms of rhetoric but he does have the Constitutional right to do that.

Its not exactly analogous as in the case of Congress setting deadlines would be where another department in your company is telling you to set a timeline and not your direct boss.

Our country is sort of based on the King not being able to fight wars when and if he wants to.

No, I actively support women in management positions, particularly if they are hot. I just think it's funny that andymoon answers to a woman, given the bravado that he puts forth around here...

You do realize how sexist this statement is, right?

What exactly does the sex of my supervisor have to do with my supposed "bravado?"

Oh, that's right, nothing at all. Just another idiotic statement. Par for the course.

I see a sexual harrassment suit coming.

I take it you haven't been married or in a serious relationship.

    Chimpy throws another fit!

Bush to Democrats: do not 'test my will' on Iraq

President George W. Bush warned Democrats Friday not to "test my will" by passing new legislation on a US troop pullout from Iraq after he vetoes a bill passed by Congress this week.

    ----

"And if the Congress wants to test my will as to whether or not I'll accept the timetable for withdrawal, I won't accept one," he told a news conference at his retreat in Camp David, Maryland, alongside Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

"So if they want to try again that which I have said was unacceptable, then of course I'll veto it," Bush said.

I really don't understand why Jr. is being such a big baby over this bill. All he has to do is sign the bill and then issue his #864th signing statement. It's not that difficult.

Remove a specific date in the bill and it will be passed. By the time the next president is elected the situation will be re-evaluated and go from there. it doesnt get much more simple than that.

I believe they have removed it and the language has been re-written as "goals" instead of date certain.

I don't know how much more they can compromise without the president making some concessions himself.

But you're right. It's going to take the next president to clean up Jr's mess.

    Same as it ever was.
