Oh right! Numbers can get skewed? Like scoring 20ppg on a 22 win ball club? From my understanding of some posters on this BBS that makes someone an all-star... Regardless of his impact at Houston (who, I admit, was already a strong defensive club), we can see just how much his loss hurt Memphis - who went from a top 5 defensive team to the toilet. Didn't Mike Miller score 20ppg in Gay's rookie year on a 22win ball club?
But I believe "Bobby Jackson's Expiring Contract" along with "Steve Francis' Expiring Contract", if we wait long enough and probably into the regular season, should be able to fetch us a much better acquisition than Sergio Rodriguez + 12 spots up in a pretty deep but nonspectacular draft once you pass the top two. I still maintain that, unless we can get Westbrook, #25 won't be that much worse than #13, and with Morey's diamond-in-the-rough capabilities maybe we have better value drafting at 25 and using our assets in a salary dump trade of some sort with a desperate team just like Memphis was last year. I saw the Lakers go from perennial first-round fodder to Finals contenders, and even though it might not happen again, why not maximize the value of our expirings before closing the door on that possibility?
Is Joe Alexander a nice kid? He declares himself the most athletic prospect in the draft, which comes off as a bit arrogant, but I could be wrong...
