Martin would be a nice piece to acquire for Tmac, he would fit in very nicely and allow the team to possibly look at moving one of the Battriza combo to get even better.

Kevin Martin is a good player to get for T-Mac. He is a great scorer, something this team really needs!

    Kevin Martin: advantages and disadvantages

We all now, that Kevin Martin is available for trade and he has no future in one team with beautiful rookie Tyreke Evans. Tyreke isn't a PG and will never ever be a PG. He is talented shooting guard who will become a Kings franchise player. So, K-Mart should go out

we all know about financial aspects, so let's just see on advantages and disadvantages of this possible addition.

    Advantages

    - Kevin Martin is a fantastic scorer. He can score at high level and be very efficient. No doubt, he'll be 20-25 PPG player in our lineup. He has great range, he is good fit for our model, he can go the basket, he is very fast for his size and position, he can steal the ball and run the break (something, that Ariza is doing in every game right now)
    - Rick knows him. He knows what he can bring to that team, cause Adelman gave Martin a chance to be a star player in 06 playoffs. He trusted in Kevin and Kevin said "Thank You, coach!" for this with his nice level of play in that wonderful series with Spurs back in 2006
    - 26 years old player, who can contribute right now or just a possibillity to sign good free agent or excellent free agent next summer. This is something you can touch right now and stop dreamin' for someone, who maybe doesn't even want to become a Rockets player
    - He is very efficient. with our ball-movement and our number of open shots he can be 47 per cent from the floor/42 per cent from 3-point line/88 per cent from free-throw line. This numbers are huge for a 20+ PPG player in a solid team
    - he's quick and athletic and possibly he can bring the ball right to the Yao's hands, like T-Mac, when he was healthy and happy

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gXZ66k-HOJI&hl=ru_RU&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gXZ66k-HOJI&hl=ru_RU&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

    Disadvantages

    - he can't play defence at solid level. He's too thick, he doesn't have some fundamentals and etc Yes, he can be an average defender in defensive system of our team, but backcourt with Martin and Brooks on D is some kind of A Nightmare on Elm Street
    - he's injury prone. we are the team, that is fighting through injuries for a 4 straight years. It's not very good, when such team is trying to acquire a player, that will earn more than 10M per year and can be out of the lineup for a long time after minor fall or smth like that
    - He can't pass and can't create. Yao will return but he'll still play without the ball with good teams, who would use fronting and other s+++ to lock-down our major force. Last Season, v2.0 :( It means that we will have no chances to contend, cause good teams will use this weakness to stop us from scoring. And don't forget, that Brooks can play such good as he plays right now with Great wall, cause he can't create opportunities for another in halfcourt game
    - He can't win. he is 26 but he still has a status of garbage scorer, someone, who can't play that productive on a next level. In 06 playoffs he was a role player and he contributed pretty well, but can he be a major weapon in a playoffs right now? No one has an answer. It can be another part of "the first round drama queen"...

So, should Morey trade T-Mac (and maybe Ariza or someone of our youngsters) for Kevin Martin, expriring contract of Kenny Thomas and filler? Remember, that right after this trade, we'll lose our Tracy's Bird Rights and we will lost a chance to sign him over the cap for a something like 7M per year X 3, if he'll return on good (not elite) level. So, what do you think?

The question is.....could he improve on his weaknesses in Houston, at 26 years of age, he just might.

And does it allow the team the flexibility to trade one of the Battriza brothers to upgrade even further?

Never make a move without thinking about the future moves it creates.

    We don't do the trade.

There is no need to stuck with Martin. There is no need to help Kings rebuilding.

He is the best fit at the 2 guard for Adelman's system

He shoots from the waist, someone with quick hands could strip the ball on the way up, its seems. Other than that, his game reminds a little of Reggie Miller.

if we can do this, we have to do it.

advantage -> less minutes for ariza. that's a HUGE advantage. plus he can score, play off the ball, and is a good 3pt shooter.

he has a ton of disadvantages but we play team defense so we can hide his defensive weakness i believe.

Disadvantages: He's injury prone in the middle of his contract. We have enough of that here already. He's a talented scorer, but the reason he's hasn't been an all star these last couple of years is because he doesn't have an all around game nor does he make his team better, Heck, his team is playing better without him. So I would say no. But if the trade was for Battier and Cook, or Ariza and Cook I would do it, and I think the salaries match cause Martin makes about 8 to million.

Very good point. He has a really awkward looking release. It feels like he wouldn't be able to get a good shot off when his man plays him semi-tightly.

Most of his shots in that mix were wide-open, and a couple of his threes were a few feet behind the three-point line, meaning that he has to have pretty good distance between himself and his defender to get a shot off.

Shane Battier was asked who the toughest guys in the league are for him to defend, the list he gave are:

Kobe, Lebron, Roy, Wade (maybe one other... Carmelo Anthony?) with honorable mention going to Paul Pierce and Kevin Martin (who, according to Battier, is the best in the league at drawing fouls).

This is how good Kevin Martin is.

Do you really believe that? Aren't the Rockets saying the same publicly about McGrady?
