Favors us a great deal instead of Memphis. M.Gasol might want more minutes than he will get in Houston as Yao's backup too.

There's not a single team in the league that wants any part of Zach Randolph.

The few teams that can offer Artest the $$ he would want are so ho-hum or outright crappy, that I think Ron will re-sign with Houston.

The #3 scenario is actually too good to be true.

Right now TMAC is useless and Battier is overrated(after so many years being underrrated). Both of them are getting old and Battier's salary is going towards 10m/yr. So basically we give up very little.

And Camby is as good a backup center as you can get, along with Prince as an all-around young star who could be an allstar instantly. Then don't forget Amir, who's a fan favorite in DET with allstar potential. And the former #1 pick is more than 6 fouls to give. Above all these you get a conditional #1 pick?

Just too good to be true in my opinion, but it's a great trade suggestion.

Any trade that involve Tmac is good for me. I just can't stand the guy's non-competitiveness nature on the court.

NIKE, I am interested to hear your thoughts on the offseason. Which do you think is more valuable, T-Mac or his contract?

I've enjoyed reading the responses in this thread so far but i'm going to go a little against the grain here....

I don't care how nuclear Zach Randolph is, if a deal like this is on the table you have to at least consider it from our end. If for nothing else the draft pick alone.

I'm a HUGE proponent of bolstering our frontcourt and adding more scoring at the 4/5. If Yao is going to continue to get hurt every year (especially at inopportune times) the onus is on us to safeguard ourselves from completely falling apart if that happens again. The fact of the matter is we have lost in the playoffs the past two years because we don't have anybody besides Yao that can consistently post up and score in the halfcourt at the 4/5. We all love Scola to death but he's more of a hustle/consistency guy than a player capable of changing his role to shoulder the burden of handling all our points around the basket. Landy is sort of the opposite: hustle/inconsistency but with the same problem.

Zach Randolph, Lord help me, fills a need in this regard. He's a 20-10 player that surprisingly is Top 25 in PER -- higher than players like Aldridge, Boozer, David West, Rashard Lewis, Scola, Josh Smith, Marion, Brand and others for comparison's sake. He's powerful and skilled enough to draw double teams. He has range on his shot to balance the court out and not clog the paint playing next to Yao. He's a poor defender but still agile enough to challenge any perimeter oriented 4/5's that give us trouble. This could feasibly work on paper. Am I blind to his MANY shortcomings and red flags? Nope, not at all. Randolph is a prime example of flawed superstar that will frustrate the hell out of you. The only point I ask you to consider is what if he can be controlled? What if Adelman can have success transforming a "damaged goods" player like Randolph into a winner -- much like he did with Artest?

Am I saying I would do this deal? No, not necessarily. It's just tough to imagine how good our team could be if we swapped three playoff non-factors (McGrady, Barry, Cook) for a legit 20-10 player in an area we have a need, an elite 4/5 defensive player in Camby and a sure-fire lottery pick from a perennial doormat of a team. Is THAT worth risking a nuclear meltdown by taking on Randolph and his [reasonable] $33M contract he's owed over the next two years? You tell me.

Again, i'm not saying I would do this and this type of move (relatively high risk, high salary) would be totally out of character for the Morey we know. Just saying it's a move to consider IF Morey is given the financial freedom to take on a bad contract or two by playing "vulture".

For better or for worse your trade concoctions are always intriguing and well thought out, hottoddie. This is no different.

That's all I have to say about Randolph!

    I don't mind Camby though. He's a good option as a back up C

Where would we play Camby, at PF, I dont think that would work  Unless you wanna pay $ 10 mil for a backup center ?

I know quite a few members here have thought about Yao playing more outside. Would this help that? On defense we now shouldn't worried about Yao going outside to guard the shooting C's since Camby is a great rebounder or vice versa since he is a great blocker.

Hard to say -- we have very little idea of TMac's health, and team's are playing a bit coy.

That said, I'm pessimistic regarding his health -- he looked like a guy broken down to me. I think there are enough teams that need to shift their long term financial health and/or prepare for the 2010 escapades that he's more valuable as a contract.
