The poll doesn't really tell much. You really hafta take the race of the pollers into consideration and determine who's switching teams if you want to make it interesting at all.
I'll be the white guy with the balls to admit I'm most attracted to white girls. Mostly dark-haired white girls. Course I'm married now and off the market. I did date a black girl in college, but it didn't work out. Partially cause I'm best friends with her brother and they kind of hate each other, but what can you do? That said, I don't think race is a very good measurement of beauty. Are we talking about the best looking girls of all races, or are we accounting for the ugly ones, too?
wait...i am, too. is that bad?? we tend to find people/things most like us, attractive. interesting metaphor or sidenote or whatever...Christians around the world have portrayed Jesus Christ as every race imaginable. go to the Far East, and you will see Jesus portrayed as such...go to Africa, and you will see Jesus portrayed as such. look at european art regarding Jesus. i don't think there's anythign wrong with that. frankly, i think it's beautiful..
I agree with this. That's not to say I don't find myself extremely attracted to women of all races, but I think this explains why most people, regardless of race, tend to be attracted more to those of the same race. I picked up a book at Borders a couple of weeks ago that dealt with Christianity somehow. For the life of me, I can't remember the name or author, but the page I turned to dealt with how everytime you see an image of Jesus, that he's an attractive person. However, the Bible describes him as unattractive. Of course, I can't remember the verse either.
are you sure?? i've never read that he was unattractive in the Bible, unless I'm just forgetting something. he was certainly attractive from the sense of being able to develop a pretty sizeable following pretty quickly. but i don't know if he was physically attractive or unattractive.
As I white guy that is married to an Asian woman let me give you some free advise that might help you. People are ASIAN Rugs are Oriental.
i don't think it's necessarily that races are attracted to races on a beauty basis. it depends IMO more on what TYPE of people you become friends with. and by "type" i don't mean race. i mean more on personality, who your hang out buddies are, etc. my college group is very mixed-whites, hispanic, indian, vietnamese, etc. none of us hang out much with our own race. i'm chinese and i've never been attracted to other asians before.
is it this??? Just as there were many who were appalled at Him – His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and His form marred beyond human likeness….He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Isaiah 52:14 - 53:1-3 it's from the Old Testament which was prophesysing about Jesus, I believe. but not a direct account from eyewitnesses. this was written hundreds of years before Jesus was born. nothing in the New Testament from actual eyewitnesses as to what he looked like.
That may have been it. I thought it was from the Gospels though when I first read it, but that was probably just a mistake on my part. That does sound like the correct verse though. Had I known it was from Isaiah, I wouldn't have even brought it up.
all good! i think Isaiah got it right, frankly. the suffering servant passages in Isaiah 53 about being "pierced for our transgressions" gives me the chills. i think Jesus was probably pretty plain looking. and it's a further argument for not looking at people only skin-deep.
I think that was the point of the chapter I turned to. Of course, I have ADD whenever I go into big bookstores that I can't really remember!
How can you put "African American?" Doesn't that only make it the blacks that came to america? i mean, the rest of the poll is pretty wide open (caucasion, asian, etc) but then African American comes in. why can't you include just Africans? Or Blacks in general? Or if you want African American, then you gotta be more specific with the rest. Like, European American, Asian-American, etc. btw...i like caucasians and Latinas.
It's often the mixes from parents of different backgrounds that look the most exotically gorgeous of all. Halle Berry Tera Patrick Alicia Keys Tyra Banks Jessica Fox That beautiful girl on Smalltown or whatever that young Superman WB series thing was. Is it me, or can you mix asian with any other bloodline and it just gets hotter? Asian/latina, asian/white, asian/black... Also, not too far off topic- this has been on my mind for a while, passing the magazine stands in the subway here in NY: Take a look at the cover of every magazine out there targeting young black males. Smooth, King, Vibe, whatever. The girls are amazing. Is there a SINGLE ONE of them that has two black parents? Seriously! It's as if black men aren't into dark skin or something! I swear, every model that makes it into these mags is a mix of some kind. I got no problem with that, they're absolutely stunningly gorgeous; amazing. Black/latina, black/caucasian, black/asian (wow)... But why can't a full blooded black girl make it onto a magazine cover? The only black girls with really dark skin I can think of off the top of my head that I've seen on magazines/posters are Naomi Campbell, Missy Elliott (NOT a model) and Tweet. Reminds me of a hilarious comic I saw on TV once, a black girl, very dark skin, she was joking that the only time girls like her could get a date was Black History Month, lol. Oh, and another sidetrack- I've seen about five minutes of one of those Victoria's Secret Fashion show catwalk things. I was a little surprised- the only models in the whole damn show that looked good were black. The super-duper skinny pale-skinned white girls really did not look like they belonged on a catwalk in a bra and panties. Some of the white girls that actually have some flesh (and a rack) like Heidi Klum looked good.
Asian/African American. There was one girl that was asian/african american mix at my high school. She was a senior and I was a junior. Julie Kim Philips. after 4 years of being out of high school, i stillr emember her name.
LMAO...So true though... Anyway, I was thinking and is it coincidence that this thread came up today and Shallow Hal was on TV last night...I think not... Again, just like everyone said, everyone has different views of beauty and sometimes, its the inner beauty that matters...Hence why there aren't many women posting a comment on this topic... Carry on...
i always thought when people said "asians", they were talking about people from china, taiwan, japan, etc... and for those people from india, pakistan, etc., they just lumped them into one group: indians
Me too. But someone in a previous most made it sound like the poll should have been more specific in regards to the term "asians." I just want some clarity.
