It didn't. It just kicked the coupon out. I don't know if anyone has the time but you can customize the system and add it to the shopping cart without having to pay or show your credit card or name. If anyone can get the discount to be included, pls let me know.
Update, I just played with it and added the Inspiron XPS to my cart. When I put in the coupon code, it did replace the 15% off. Have to try again with the system I really want.
perhaps they are out of that system now? or maybe they've stopped allowing that coupon to work on that specific system?
If you want other ppl's input on Torque and the laptop you are looking into, go to: http://notebookforums.com/
got me a 5160 for $946.10 including shipping and tax. i've wanted a new computer but wasn't really in the market to buy one however this was too good of a deal to pass up. besides if i choose not to keep it i figure i can sell it on ebay for atleast a couple hundred dollar profit.
I got this reply from a Dell Rep via e-mail: "Yeah the 5160 or XPS would be a good choice. The 8600 wont be back because of supply constraints."
I think it was only good until 6pm CST today (see initial thread post). I can't believe I'm just now finding out about this. I've been in the market for a laptop for a long time, looking for a smoking hot deal, and I missed out. So ultimately what was the best machine to get here that was eligible for this discount?
It should still be good for a few more hours. (Looks like it is strictly a 24 hour sale) But supplies are definitely limited. Man, If this came around a few weeks ago, I'd have jumped all over it. Sigh.
I'm assuming its the 9100, which sold out hours before any other model. That's actually the one I was targetting, b/c it had a "Multimedia Package" with remote control.
Depends on what you were looking for : portability, power, screen-size. I was tempted to get an 8600 or 700m. The 9100 and XPS are tanks. If you don't mind lugging a 9 pound laptop with you, the 9100 would've been a good deal.
Oh wait. There's an update on the page: http://www.gotapex.com/ I guess the deal IS over. Because I think this is all the models that they had featured.

The 8600 was a steal at under $900. It's a widescreen system that's also slim and lightweight. They've had very few reliability issues, as opposed to the 600M which has had numerous HDD problems. The 700M is a little too small for my tastes, and the XPS weighs a ton.
