i thought this was a joke, like a gimmick, because they played it out on the air and did an onair phone call with the station director or something.. wouldn't think that would REALLY happen on the air, but i may be wrong.

the dj called the station director and spoke to him on the air, and the director just repeated that he couldn't give any information on the subject, and that he has higher bosses that make the decisions. then he asked the dj if the call was on the air, dude said yes, then director just hung up the phone.

seemed like a set up fake phone call. this could just be a ratings play or to build hype and change the name of the station or something next week?

95.7 is not better than 104. At best it is equal. 95.7 was better when it started cause it didn't have a morning show and played music.

This is a sidenote, but 5th? Where'd you get that? Everything I've read, we are 4th in terms of population. Perhaps you've seen something I haven't.

    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KKHH :

[rquoter]On Thursday, March 26th, 2009 the station started running format change promos by the Station Manager. Dave Morales put the Station Manager on-air (unknown to him) to ask why...and what was going on. The station manager just passed the buck and blamed CBS management and could not provide further information. When he found out he was on-air he slammed down the phone. The changeover is supposed to take place at 6:00am Central time on Monday, March 30th, 2009. Although rumors say it will be an Urban station, similar to KBXX (97.9 The Box) and the defunct KPTY Party 93.3 (and if the change to an urban station comes true, most of the old staff at 93.3 will be working at 95.7), but many calls to the management or e-mails to the management are currently bilingual, hinting that they're pursuing a Latino format, although the new format is quite unknown, because The Pussycat Dolls are scheduled to appear in studio on Monday, the day the switch will be taking place.[/rquoter] Buenos días Houston! Tenemos a 'Las' Pussycat Dolls en el estudio! Hola, p*****s!

    :D LOL!

Problem is, they don't play it all the time. I love the lunch hour where they just play a full album. And I love Latin jazz on Saturdays. But there's not a full-out committed jazz station in town...probably because the market isn't demanding it.

Another Latino station? Man they must be making a lot of money on commercials & have a lot of listeners. I never would have thought Houston would have so many stations.

It sounds like a gimmick. Britney Spears is in Houston tonight and the station is playing all Britney songs.

I don't see why they would go through all that trouble to hype a concert. But then again I don't see how an all Britney station can survive. I was excited this morning to see the change. When they said the New Brit 95.7 I thought they were going to play British music from now on, lol

"Sir, we don't want to upset the PussyCat Dolls and Britney tonight... what do we do about the format?"
" I am surfing ClutchFans, emmeffer! Get out of my office... f... just play all the music from Britney Spears! Sh_t! Leave me alone! I'm in the GARM!!!"

    ...

"... we're the new Brit 95.7! Playin' all Brit songs to commemorate Brit's concert tonight!"

LOL...! :D what about when there's no more Brit concert... like... um, tomorrow? :p

Haha you guys listen to 95.7!!

    ( I do too.)

I listened to 3 brit songs in a row, thought it was coincidence, but her being in town would explain the gimmick. I'm officially on suicide watch. =( No lady gaga or K.West for me today. It could have been worse, all reggaeton all the time.

I don't think they officially filed for a format change with the FCC. I also agree that hyping up a sold out concert by faking a format change for one day is ridiculous. I wonder if Britney's people are paying them.

This morning I turned on 95.7 to check it out and I realized it was all Britney songs, so I quickly changed the channel.

But seriously, latino? If that is what they are doing then wow. If they end up turning into a urban/hip-hop station then I wouldn't mind it.

Bad publicity stunt. It worked, but sort of will backfire. :D Good luck, though, Mr. Riddler, sir.

Ok, so you got me and many others. :p

"That's never going to heal if you don't stop picking." - name that movie, DJ Riddler, sir. ;)
