a coup...like a big steal...it would be a big coup to get the sec of state to be the commish for the nfl.
thats what i was wondering the whole time. if he was just trying to be cute and make outlandish comments for ratings like some of the over the top radio hosts do then he got what he deserves and he should know that his job is always on the line.
Well Earl says that KARMA caught up with him already so I am not too concerned about it This is a SERIOUS mistake for his career He may get another job but it will be on a lower level this may dog him the rest of his career Karma is a b*tch . . . .ask Earl Rocket River . . I'm just trying to be a better person
This thread is comedy. The guy royally ****ed up. Slip of the tongue, accident, Freudian slip, intentional... whatever. How he feels doesn't matter. This guy is no victim. He just seriously screwed up. Whether it's an F-bomb, N-bomb or whatever profanity, he broke company policy and has paid the price. Nothing to see here people... move along....
I can't believe this has gone 5 pages. Wow. Guess we're desperate for topics? I'd say there are plenty better than this one. And if you want a change of pace, check out the Lottery Generator! http://www.clutchfans.net/nbadraft/lottery/generator Right now, I see us at the 12th spot in the lottery... we gotta do better, people!! Keep D&D Civil.
What he said...btw, I'm at work, so I can't google, but I've heard of coon-azz, but honestly, what is a coon? Is it the same or worse/better than the "N" word?
Is the radio station owned by Clear Channel? I wonder what would have happend if he had just said Condi was Bush's b!tch.
I betcha I know what happened: he was speaking about her being commish of the NFL, and was going to say it was a "boon" for the league, and at the last second changed it in his mind to "coup" and it came out as an EXTREMELY unfortunate mix of the two words. Think about it: the word "boon" fits within the context of the statement. Having said that, the guys still should have been canned. Yes, it was an accident, but some accidents have dire consequences. His job is to speak on the radio, and he failed in the worst way possible. Simple as that.
...and let me guess, you aren't black. AMERICA, if the "comment" or slur isn't directed at you, then you have no grounds to tell the offended party whether or not they should be offended. Fact is, the guy is paid for his verbal apptitude. And it failed him miserabely here. If a bridge builder had a numerical typo in a critical part of a load bearing structure, that guy would get fired too. Some mistakes ...not so bad. As a radio host, calling a black person a coon (even mistakingly) on the air is about the worst possible thing a radio host can do. I can't think of many other "mistakes" that would be worse than that. Even dropping an F-bomb isn't as bad because that isn't a directional comment. But calling somebody a coon cuts right to the heart of blacks ...at least blacks in America. If you don't understand this, then you are somewhat disconnected with black America.
