Congratulations PhiSlammaJamma! These horses will keep racing, but not in the Triple Crown events, which are only for three-year-olds. That's just the way they have it set up. They should eventually have nice stud careers as well. Still, I wasn't too happy... there hasn't been a Triple Crown winner for as long as I can remember. I had thought War Emblem was going to do it a few years back. Of course, it's too bad Birdstone's great accomplishment couldn't really be celebrated. Even his jockey and owner felt guilty. No Triple Crown winner, war on terror, war in Iraq, Rice in the loser's bracket of the baseball regionals, and the Lakers in the finals. (And today's installment of the gymnastics national championships pre-empted by a telethon.) Life just blows sometimes.
thats what I was trying to say the other horse had no business winning.. It kind of felt like "The Stockton Shot" I was at the edge of my seat and *BOOM* the winner (whom I don't know the name of) had a sudden urge to take a piss or something and stole it from our beloved Smarty Jones
if it had occured today it woudl have been one of the few days it woudlnt have been the "huge story".. would have been overshawdowed by the sad passing of the former president
