If you judge players by the number of rings they have, then Robert Horry is greater than Michael Jordan. That said, here's my top 5 big men of all time (C and PF) ranked by most dominant in era and best across eras: Most Dominant in Era 1. Bill Russell (11 championships and totally owned Wilt in doing so) 2. Wilt Chamberlain (Man among boys when you see footage of this beast) 3. Kareem Abdul Jabbar (Banned dunking when he played NCAA) 4. George Mikan (So dominant, they widened key and invented 3 second rule) 5. Shaq (Dominated modern era NBA like he was Wilt or something) Best Across Eras: 1. Shaq (The Wilt for modern times) 2. Tim Duncan (The Big Fundamental. Modern Day Bill Russell) 3. Kareem Abdul Jabbar (His sky hook would still be effective even today) 4. Akeem Olajuwon (Took advantage of in-between status with best post move fundamentals of modern era) 5. Wilt Chamberlain (Hard not to include Wilt even vs modern athletes.) A couple of explanations here: 1. Yes, Olajuwon dominated Shaq when he was younger, but Shaq in his prime was just about the most unstoppable force you could imagine...minus the free throws. 2. Strange that Bill Russell was left off the second list, but I just think his lack of size would not allow him to compete with the action figure athletes of today. I'm sure he would prove me wrong if given the chance though.
