He single handedly won the game for them last night in the 4th quarter and OT. The bogus clutch player, best PF in the history of basketball, was 1-7 from FT line, missed nearly all his shots, and turned the ball over in clutch time. The Spurs were smart in acquiring such Finals veteran like Horry and Kerr. They might be role players. However, without them, the Bulls, Rockets, and Spurs would not have won as many titles as they do.
Because the Rockets with Bob Horry were 0-2 against the Sonics. With Charles Barkley, they were 1-0. Of course, we were 2-0 against the Jazz with Horry and 0-2 with Barkley, but we needed to get past the Sonics first.
Already has 5 Championship rings, going to get his sixth very soon, most 3pt shot made in the all time NBA finals history, one of the most dangrous players in clutch time. He deserves the hall of fame.
I love Horry as much as anybody, but the hall of fame? You gotta be kidding me. The basketball hall of fame already has low enough standards without letting in somebody with career averages of 7.5 points and 5 rebounds per game. He has fewer career points than Steve Francis for cryin' out loud! Remember, the hall of fame is supposed to take into account a player's ENTIRE career, not just his career from late April to June...The fact is that, thoughout almost his whole career, he has consistently slacked off during the regular season and has hit big shots late in playoff games. Impressive? Yes...Hall of fame worthy? Not a chance.
I'm listening to espn radio and this guy Colin Herd is actually seriously arguing for Horry to be in the hall. Its pretty ridiculous. As I stated in the other thread, this guy has been blessed to play with the best big men of his career during the primes. If a team had to depend on Horry to be consistent to get to the playoffs, he would not have the opportunity to do what he has done.
Man, I know the Basketball Hall of Fame is considered easy to get into, but Robert Horry in it? That would be sad.
No one is saying Horry is an all-star.. everyone knows he's just a role player and always has been... but he's becoming the most clutch player in the history of the NBA.. he is famous for that, so famous, in fact, that he might deserve to be enshrined.
Hell, put Bob Horry on the NBA logo. Rodman is about the only role player who I think you can make a legitimate argument for Hall status. And it starts with that guy did what he did in the regular season and in the playoffs.
what about reggie? well ya as far as roleplayers ur right. but i remember the hory we had acted like he didnt want to be there certain nights, just imagine,if he had that fire everynight? i was mad cuz i was goin for the pistons and told them to guard the imbounder, but they lefet him all alone, didnt understand that. as for duncan he's hurt, but IS a big reason for their success, either way i hate the spurs
DAMN!! I have never seen a superstar THROAT down the most crucial stretch of the game like Duncan did! At least Shaq showed up against the Pistons in Game 7 with his injuries and all Anyways, Horry saved Duncan's AZZ (and Tim acknowledged so in the post-game conf, which was classy). When the Spurs win the ring AGAIN this year, Horry has to demand that Duncan name his first baby "Big Shot Rob".
The thing is, the NBA regular season is absolutely meaningless if your team is any good. I know that, you know that, Bobby Horry knows it. The playoffs is where you make your name, and Horry is absolutely the greatest role player in NBA History. I can't think of a single non-All Star ever who elevated his game in the playoffs consistantly anywhere close to the way Horry does. Most role players do their thing in the regular season and diminish on the big stage. What shocked me was that drive and finish. I used to see that early on in his Rockets career, but hadn't seen him put it on the floor like that in awhile.
I definitely support Robert Horry being inducted for Hall of Fame. I got this little definition from HoopHall.com (NBA Hall of Fame Official Homepage). - Webster's dictionary doesn't have a definition for Hall of Fame. In fact the Hall of Fame means different things to different people. Above all, a Hall of Fame exists to acknowledge and honor the men and women who have risen to the top of their profession. While it's true that a Hall of Fame can become a state of mind, a Hall of Fame is really a physical structure and a shrine to the people who are fortunate enough to earn induction- So .. anyone who have risen to the top of their profession should be given a chance to be inducted. Robert Horry's profession is making clutch 3's in playoff in my opinion. His role is not to have 20/10 stats during regular season. He was signed by Lakers and Spurs only to knock down those 3's during playoff which he has done time after time. Although his real profession is basketball, but his actual profession in a game is making clutch plays during playoff. If you are a sales person at Bestbuy, you dont have to be good at selling every appliance in the store. You just have to be good at selling what in your department.
Yeah, but if you work at Best Buy full time Monday through Friday and you only manage to sell appliances on Friday afternoons, then you won't be around long...
i think tim duncan's performance last night should bring an end to all those comparisons with hakeem the dream olajuwon. he actually looked scared to be out there.
But playoff games are not same as regular games. If you can sell 3 - 4 HD flatscreen tvs on friday afternoon, it is much better than selling 50 - 60 Music CDs all week long.
Well, his scoring average is only about 2 points higher in the playoffs than in the regular season. I think making a few clutch three pointers is more like selling a stove and a couple of microwave ovens. The fact is that the hall of fame takes into account the player's ENTIRE career...college, NBA, and international, and his entire career includes regular season games, for which he has slacked during most of his career. Robert Horry's achievements seem great because they're so recent. Ten years from now when you think of the great players of the 90's and 00's and people are talking about Jordan, Barkley, Hakeem, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, and Iverson, I can pretty much guarantee that Robert Horry's name will only come up in passing, if at all...
