Why don't you just read it instead of making ridiculous claims. This is an example of why organized religion is horrible for this planet (hence the reason our founding fathers were pro separation of church/state). People are given power and abuse it. The Quran does not say not to drink, it says that getting intoxicated is against God's laws (nothing against a little bit of recreational drinking). It is up to the person and should not be up to the government. Such bull****. These mutha****ing crooks are an insult to Islam.
You're completely wrong about this. Drinking alcohol brings you into a state of najasat (ritual impurity), therefore you can't perform your daily prayers, etc. Some say that you are in this state for 40 days. List of Najis things It is haraam (sinful) to drink alcohol period. With that being said, I don't condone this punishment for one second. It's backwards thinking and she doesn't deserved to canned for drinking alcohol.

I am against this as a general rule. Now if a woman takes her man's beer, she should be caned. That is unacceptable. But drinking a freely obtained beer? We can allow that.

just so you'd know, there's a reason why polygamy is allowed and I'll try to explain in to the best of my ability. I will also try to explain the "very special circumstance" in which it's allowed. the verse in the quran that allows polygamy goes something like this "and you are allowed to have up to 4 wives IF and only IF you'll be fair to each wife and treat them exactly the same, and GOD KNOWS YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO DO THAT" this seems contradictory, but if you take into account the historical situation back then, you fully understand why this is allowed. back in that time period, the muslims were being hard-core persecuted by the old school shrine-worshipping arabs living in saudi arabia (mecca to be exact), and as islam progressed and grew, it was very weak and there were several confrontations and conflicts which cost the muslims a lot of men.. hence, polygamy was allowed to increase the muslim population and ensure that there will always be men available for the fight.. simple as that, and the fact that the verse says "god knows you will NOT BE ABLE TO BE FAIR" suggests that outside of this very special instance and historical setting, polygamy isn't something you should do, and that's why the huge majority of muslims currently DO NOT practice polygamy.. and LOL at "4 wives would make me drink", cuz they sure would
