I don't care where its played, if I'll go up to Lubbock to watch the Horns play, I can go to Robertson stadium.

Of course, I hope that this year UH's center won't cheap shot one of our DLinemen.

If Texas had played Hawaii (unnecessary 12th game), we would have only had one bye week all season.

That's the real reason we wussed out, in my opinion -- and it's just as bad as the money. You don't cop out of a contract because your kids might be more tired than you thought.

If we were only interested in money wouldn't we reschedule the 12th game at home?

They considered it and could not find a team available, from what I understand.

We also wrote out a check to Hawaii so they shouldn't be complaining at all. We aren't scared of a team that lost to Portland State.

The year before, they got a new coach and had a turnaround season (9-2? 8-3?). I think we *were* scared of them. I think the program wanted a 3-0 non-conference season that we haven't had in 10+ years, and UT thought Hawaii one was the potential blip on the map.

For Hawaii, that would have been a chance to get some national recognition for the team and put their "new team" on the map. It didn't work out that way, but that's how it looked before last season.

Dodds explanation for cancelling the Hawaii game was idiotic and made Texas appear to be the bad guy. Texas can afford to fly the team first class to Hawaii.

If Texas had played Hawaii (unnecessary 12th game), we would have only had one bye week all season. When the series was signed, Texas had no idea how the 2000 schedule would turn out. A year earlier we lost in an unnecessary 12th game to NC State. If we were only interested in money wouldn't we reschedule the 12th game at home? We also wrote out a check to Hawaii so they shouldn't be complaining at all. We aren't scared of a team that lost to Portland State.

The question to ask is: Why is Texas playing Houston?

The game is being played for the UT alums, fans, and recruits. What is the point of playing Houston if these people can't get a ticket?

I don't know what the visitors cut is (if any), but Texas is not losing any money by playing UH. In fact they are gaining money because its a 2-1 series. UH plays in Austin next season.

How is UT more interested in money in both these situations?

The visitor always gets a pretty decent cut. I'm not sure of the exact figure anymore, but it's substantial...

UH gets ZIP from the games they are playing in UT. Not sure what UT is getting from playing in Houston.

Ty, I was about to post the same thing. If UH plays the game at the Dome they have to pay rent and they don't get concession or parking money. That also ruins tailgating and the proposed BBQ cookoff and Eagles concert.

Also, from what I've been told, aside from the 10,000 already given to UT, individual tickets will go on sale August 1. That means you DON'T HAVE to buy the Texas Trifecta. I'm pretty sure the Rice game would sell out regardless. Don't know about TCU.

The whole Texas Trifecta is a joint effort between UH and Jim "Matress Mac" McIvgvale who is a UT alum.

My mistake then... I guess it varies from match-up to match-up. I know that BC's football team usually gets like 20% or so of the take when they visit, and the visitor gets likewise when we're home.

Haven, no problem. your assumption holds true in most cases, this just happens to be the exception to the rule.
