It seems like EVERYONE in the media is counting out Texas tomorrow......Texas beats KSU, but loses 1-2 more along the way. (they better do good, or OU's win over them means NOTHING in the BCS )
haven, Fair enough. If you remember, Kevin Jones rushed for like over 150 yards last year against Miami, so just imagine what he AND Lee Suggs could do. But hopefully, Miami makes adjustments during the game if they have problems. The big key in stopping Tech's running game is not to have them on the field, meaning establish the run with McGahee. However, it will be tough against that defense. Okay, onto the actual subject..... Texas has only 1 gimme game left in Baylor; everyone else could knock them off if they aren't careful. The two they really need to look out for, though, are Kansas State and Iowa State. If KSU had not lost to Colorado, I think this game would have been your Big 12 game of the week and not ISU-OU, regardless if Texas had lost to OU or not. This game is one that I'll be keeping a close eye on, but I don't think Texas has enough time to regroup from the OU loss. Playing in Manhattan makes it even tougher. I think there is a 60% chance of Texas losing this game. The more interesting thing to me is the Iowa State game. I would think that Horn fans (if they wouldn't do this already) have got to be rooting for an ISU win tomorrow. Then maybe the Cyclones come in flat the next week in Austin. But the next 2 weeks will determine if Texas still has a chance for a NC, IMO.
I said it before I will say it again. The Longhorns are still the 3rd or 4th best team in the country, maybe, maybe Va Tech in front, but I don't think so. Also, we can still win the Big12 as I know OU won't run the table with Hybl at QB but they may not lose twice. Overall, this game will be tough, hard-fought and the key to our season. If we win, I would like to hear all the people clamoring that KState in manhattan isn't a big game because that's BS. Subjectivity is not a good thing. Anyways, KState can't throw the ball, and while running qb's give us some trouble, I think Reese will have the D-Line motivated, and our secondary has played like the best in the country right now. We win this war in Kansas 24-17 and march our way towards 11-1(Sorry ISU in Austin, Neb in Lincoln who sucks, the aggies at home, Baylor-duh and Tech in lubbock-minute chance, aren't upsetting us, to any neutral/OU fans) Btw(for any on the UT campus or nearby in an apartment-I work/volunteer at KVR-thursday's college Crossfire at 10-10:30, and monday College Pressbox at 9:30-10(both pm), I will be on monday's show if you want to see my work.
If UT wins tomorrow, would this be considered a "big game" victory for Mack? KState is a quality team, only ranked 19, but still. I've got a feeling the outcome depends on Mangum's leg. Hook 'em.
Manny I can tell you right now ISU even with Wallace does not scare me at home. It's parents weekend to add motivation and it's in Austin against a solid team(not an OSU type). We will win pretty convincingly that week unless we tank it in. See Nebraska when Mack first started here and CU last year if you don't believe me. And yes, I want ISU to beat OU.
Question: How high do you think ISU would go if they beat both OU and Texas? Starting to look like the Colorado of last year......
Well duke It won't happen so you don't have to worry about it, but they would hypothetically be #5 or 6 around Georgia and behind Va-Tech, and Ohio State, in my book.
If ISU beats OU this weekend, I say they're #4 behind Miami, VT, and OSU. Beating UT won't move them up much higher than that, but either VT or Miami drops after playing each other. ISU has a legitimate shot at the NC.
Actually, The Cat already predicted that Texas led by Chris Simms would run the table and win a National Championship, so this thread is irrelevant.
I have a hard time seeing ISU jumping over undefeated teams like Georgia and Oregon. They COULD possibly jump over Notre Dame because of a tougher schedule in my mind. If OU loses & all the other teams ahead of ISU wins and that's a big IF, I would think the AP Top 10 would look like this: 1) Miami 2) Virginia Tech 3) Ohio State 4) Georgia 5) Oregon 6) Iowa State 7) Notre Dame 8) Oklahoma 9) Texas 10) Washington State However, I have my doubts that ISU would be ranked ahead of an undefeated Notre Dame team, but if I was one of the AP voters, I would vote the Cyclones over the Irish.
You know, if you want to take personal shots at me, you can do it in the thread I actually posted in instead of finding a thread that I had nothing to do with and bringing me into it.
For those that think it's so funny, mind telling me exactly what I did to deserve that? I'm sorry I don't agree with the majority here that Chris Simms sucks... I always assumed you could disagree here without being personally called out. My mistake.
The more interesting thing to me is the Iowa State game. I would think that Horn fans (if they wouldn't do this already) have got to be rooting for an ISU win tomorrow. Then maybe the Cyclones come in flat the next week in Austin. I agree. Personally, I think ISU is the best team in the B12. Their big problem is the schedule from hell. Not only do they play all the good teams, but they play them all on the road. I think they will win this weekend, and maybe fairly easily (sorry, mduke). I'm actually more looking forward to watching this game than the UT game. Question: How high do you think ISU would go if they beat both OU and Texas? Starting to look like the Colorado of last year...... Except for that FSU loss, they'd be starting to look like OU 2000 in the schedule flying through the rankings in a period of 3 or 4 weeks. If they could knock off two top ten opponents on the road back-to-back, with their only loss being a foot short of tying FSU, I think they easily move into the top 4.
I think you are overreacting a little bit. You did say what TheFreak quoted and he didn't cuss you out or call you any names, so technically, how did he make that a cheapshot?? I could see it if he added a " " instead of a " ", but he didn't add any smiley at all. If you think everyone is laughing at you, won't that make it all the sweeter if Simms has a big game in a Horn win this weekend and better yet if Texas wins the NC?? Then you will have the last laugh. Unfortunately, the perception right now to many people is that Texas under Mack Brown and Chris Simms can't win a big game. Until they prove otherwise, you are always going to hear it, Cat.
I think they're more like Vtech '99. A good team, with an exceptional QB. Wallace isn't quite as electrifying on the run as Vick, but he's a better passer. Still, take him out and insert an average QB, and that team's 7-4. Heupel was an excellent system QB, but that team had some serious, serious talent. People like to think that the Vtech team, did. But none of it has panned out in the NFL. And, imo, even if this ISU team goes 12-1, it doesn't really either. 1 great player, lots of good players. I think OU beats them if Griffin is as good as he was against Texas... but if he disappears again, then ISU in an easy win.
You know, most of us that disagreed with you don't think Simms "sucks", so you can quit with that mischaracterization immediately.
