My senior year of high school ('03) our TE (Tony Hills) was the #1 recruit in the nation. UT signed him and now he's backup offensive line. This guy strikes me as the same type of player as Tony (who in his defense injured his knee in the State semis). We'll see if he fits into our system if we get him.
Rouse isn't going to Texas. He's playing the recruiting game, just like Xavier Lee did last year. Rouse will be a Florida State Seminole...and if there's another choice, it's Miami.
Umm, it sounds like a little more than games to me. "Right now I would say Texas is my top school" Most fans who follow recruiting would be shocked if Rouse did not pick his home-town Seminoles. After all, he grew up a FSU fan, knows the team inside and out and feels very comfortable near home. But at this time, Rouse ranked his top five ... and the 'Noles were not sitting at the top. "Right now I would say Texas is my top school, especially if [Ryan] Perrilloux goes there. I want to be the next Roy Williams and I want [Perrilloux] to be my quarterback for the next three or four years. I can really see myself there, so we'll see. "I would say that Alabama is No. 2, Florida State No. 3, Miami No. 4 and Southern Cal No. 5. There were some rumors that I was looking at UCLA, but they were just rumors." Currently, Rouse is scheduled to visit Texas right after the U.S. Army All-American Bowl (on Jan. 17). Then he is scheduled to visit Miami (on Jan. 21) and Florida State (on Jan. 28). "I may change up things because now I want to visit Southern Cal. So I may visit Florida State mid-week after Miami and then visit USC (on Jan. 28)." The timetable for the Fred Rouse decision will be on Feb. 2nd, National Signing Day. He will make his announcement on Fox Sports Net South's Countdown to Signing Day and sign his Letter of Intent from Atlanta. What will happen between now and then? Right now the Longhorns stand in the lead for the nation's top prospect with Alabama a close second. But don't discount the power of Florida State. "The pressure is there for me to go to Florida State," Rouse said. "But FSU might not be the best place for me. I have to do what is best for me. We'll see what happens." Hope this doesn't turn out to be another TMac-like prediction for you. Actually, I suppose I do, for the sake of my Horns.
This is nothing like Xavier Lee last year. Texas made a late, last gasp run at him last year and we were certaintly not the leaders before our own in home visit: http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=2&c=339733 I'm not saying he will or won't come but Rouse having Texas number one before the in home visit with arguably the best face to face recruiter in the business speaks volumes about his friendship with Perriloux and the fact he knows he can come to Texas and start from day one. Don't discount Texas in this, he sincerely seems interested, unlike Lee.
wow it seems like there doing great in recruiting. i used to follow it more closely when rivals didnt charge anything. but now i dont know where to go for the information. go macky
Yeah, it's been known for a few days that the statesman made an error. However, he will either go to Texas or A&M. Texas is definitely the better situation(Basketball, use of the TE in the offense), but I believe a family member of his plays for A&M. Perriloux is playing games, but he's ours. I'd love for Rouse to come, but I don't think he will. He's playing the game and definitely considering Texas, but I think FSU will make a late run.
Bennett's older brother Michael just signed and I believe enrolled at A&M. I wouldn't say that texas better utilizes their TE, I think Fran would love to use the TE more but doesn't currently have that special talent like Martellus.
You don't need a five-star like Martellus to show basic utilization of the TE. Hell, Texas doesn't have Martellus-level talent at TE either. This is one argument that simply cannot be made. Texas uses their TE's in the passing game as well as I've ever seen...It's the one strength in the Texas passing game.
Tonight at 10pm on Fox Sports Southwest this guy decides for real. The rumors I'm hearing are that he's going to Austin.
I realize it's wishful thinking, but I really hope this guy wears the Maroon & White next Fall. Realistically, I think UT will get Bennett, but I think they will miss out on Ryan Perrilloux. I think he will be an LSU Tiger.
I wish he wouldn't wear that A&M sweater in those commercials. It makes me think he's going to tear it off and show a UT sweater underneath
Okay. I have a source, but I don't know how reliable my source is because I have never gone to him for any breaking news. I will not claim that what I am about to post is definitive because I honestly do not know that it is. We'll see how good he is today Bennett will go to LSU with Ryan Perrilloux
It's almost time but word is from friends of Bennett that he'll choose UT. Not sure if this is extremely reliable but it comes from my sister (one of the friends) so take that gossip for what it's worth.
Did you guys read the story about Perrilloux in the Chron today. This guy is something else. Sounds like he needs an a$$ whipping to me. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/3016957 and don't forget to check out his website: www.ryan11.com This guy really likes himself!
they just showed him with all those different hats in front of him. what tells me he's going to pick one up at first, then set it back down and pick up the real one. he seems like the type to do that.
