    Hornets sign Gustavo Ayón

    He is 6'10, 245 lbs
Played in the Spanish ACB league (the best league in Europe) and averaged this season: 16 points, 8 rebounds, FG percentage: 66% from the FT line: 80%

Ayón was player of the month of November

According to Draft Express, he Plays his ass off. Smart. Rebounds. Athletic Tough. Finds ways to score. Teammate. Perfect rotation big.

but we have to see if he makes a good transition to the NBA, he wont be playing the first games.

I've always thought Barea was Mexican. Does this mean Najera is the best Mexican player that has ever stepped on an NBA court? Mexico should be able to find a guy better than him.

Doesnt seem like there is enough focus on the sport for them to have better perimeter players....i think the taller players get drawn to basketball because of pure size, but everyone else is drawn to soccer, baseball, etc.

I expect more Mexican American players to make it in the next decade though. There's some talent out there, but again, not enough focus and support from Mexican culture.

Years ago, when 6' 11" Gilbert Salinas played for Notre Dame, he entered a game and broadcaster Al McGuire said "That's the tallest Mexican I've ever seen". When they came back from a TV timeout, he apologized.

Really, not all Spanish speakers are not Mexican. JJ Barea happens to be American born from the American commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

That would be like saying US citizens, Canadians, British, New Zealanders, Aussies, Bahamians, Antiguans and Barbudans are all the same. (
