Work ethic for Dre isn't the problem or downfall. Quite the opposite.
It's being too much of a damn perfectionist that is his problem.

He's reportedly made, finished and recycle binned his sequel to 2001 over hundred times.

Uh...you're missing the point, and I'm not even a big Dr. Dre fan, but he is a pioneer of production and leading vets and new rappers to success..

Are you taking into account the songs Dre has produced for other artists? Even though they aren't his own songs, his work ethic and production for other rappers is amazing.

Who are the rappers that are lyrically strong in your opinion? And I'm wondering how many of Hopsin's songs you've actually listened to. A lot of his songs have a clear, consistent message.

And saying Aceyalone is lyrically weak is a very false statement.

Dude...I've been into HipHop my entire life.I live it and I love it. However, it seems like you're way too biased to consider that your favorite rappers, or the 2 guys you're referring to in this thread, are not as lyrically amazing as you think. Especially Hopsin..I've listened to plenty, and his formula isn't new. Plus, because he hasn't gotten the shine he wants, he has resorted to dropping names in his songs. He's even admitted it in interviews that he wanted to stir things up. It's a move of desperation. Aceyalone is a step up from him, though. That's why we have choices in music though. You are free to listen and like whomever you want. This is just my opinion.

Eminem created a lane in terms of speaking on a different side of poverty and dysfunction than what other rappers discussed. He integrated some "shock" (Kim, Cleanin' out my closet, etc..) with humor, wordplay and family/socially-conscious topics. He is one of the more self-reflective rappers.

To answer your question about lyrically-strong rappers, I would need to type for hours, but I'll name a few that ETHER both Hopsin and Aceyalone. I've listed only a few the guys I figure you would know or have heard of..not sure how far back you listen:

    -AZ
    -Nas
    -Joell Ortiz
    -Rakim
    -Pun
    -Atmosphere/Slug
    -Immortal Technique
    -Budden
    -Crooked I
    -Royce Da 5"9'
    -XV
    -Eminem
    -Quan
    -Pac/Big (of course)
    -Common
    -Talib
    -Mos Def
*Kendrick (Not a fan..somewhat overrated, but has more to say than Hopsin)
    -Young Roddy
    -Papoose
-Pusha T (when he wants to)

This could go on and on...I'm not saying your favorite dudes are trash, but in my opinion, they are average in comparison to the VETS and many of the newer guys.

I wouldn't put any of those guys in elite category outside Rakim, Nas, Black Star and Common. The rest of those guys are average at best.

If they are AVERAGE, where does that put your boys, Aceyalone and Hopsin? Subpar? Mediocre?

That list was by no means exhaustive...that was me listing at work.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Rap is awesome because there are so many subtypes involved. Some people like Waka Flakas, some people like the Drakes, some people like the Nas' and Buddens' (me) and some people like the Hopsins' (you.)

It's all love. Just glad you don't hype of country. Yuck

I'm more into rakim, Jurassic 5, cormega. I'm just saying hopsin and Aceyalone are two of the most underrated rappers around.
