People like Magic are looking at it wrong. If Lin plays tomorrow, it won't be at the expense of Beverley or Brooks. He'll basically be taking Delfino's place as a swingman for 15, maybe 20 minutes. He'll be slightly undersized, but the Thunder are running tons of really small lineups, and I think Lin is fully capable of guarding Martin. Bottom line is that with Delfino's injury, the Rockets need bodies. Obviously Jeremy is more of a slasher while Carlos is a shooter, but I think the second unit has enough shooters with AB and whichever of Harden/Garcia/Parsons is out there. Lin will have a role and I think he'll be fine.
Bleacher report article with statistical analysis on Lin... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...houston-rockets-better-off-without-jeremy-lin
Exactly Lin hasn't played great in one single playoff game yet. He's in familiar territory right now... HURT.
Unbelievable. And sad. I wonder if people actually believe this stuff, or if they just say it in hopes of having it become true by repeating it.
I find that extremely hard to believe when Lin was part of quite a number of blowouts...do you have stats to backup your bs?
I hope you don't seriously believe this. I think you're trolling but can't be sure. Lin started all 82 games this season had a solid season, got hurt in the second playoff game. Beverly has been playing ok but nothing earth shattering. Now all of a sudden Lin is not the starting point guard anymore.
I understand that those who aren't Lin fans are looking for "analysis" and stats to back up their arguments now. I get that. The "hour" is growing late for the Lin Detractors. I'm THRILLED for the team and Patrick Beverley. I also know Reggie Jackson torched Beverley in the fourth quarter of last night's game. I also know that Lin averaged more points in the final 10 games of the regular season -- 17 -- than Beverley has ever scored, once, as a Rocket. I get it, I do. I know that this is a thrilling moment for those who want to see Lin fail. But I think we may be getting just a touch ahead of ourselves here. And when I say "a touch," I mean like miles and miles.
Lin is a valuable member of the team, and with the injuries and nagging pains this team has we could definitely use Lin. To act like we are better without him in some fashion is silly. There can be a debate about whether he should start or not, but to not hope he's available is just silly. The guy was doing very well in game 2 until he got hurt. I hope he comes back.
^true we lead the.league im scoring w Lin starting. But id rather have the midgets playing over a healthy Lin right now.
I don't think it's trolling. I think its' desperation. Lin has passed all the tests this year. All of them. So, if you are a Lin Doubter, all you had left was the playoffs to hope he failed in. And so here we are. And I think the Lin Doubter gang is going all-in, trying to put their fingers in every hole in the dam, and hoping they can "win" in the last 10 yards of the race. It's sad to watch. In my view, anyways. But this is what it looks like to me, the motivation here.
I love Magic. But citing his "analysis" is like citing Bleacher Report for support, in my opinion. If you're arguing with someone and they pull the "Magic" or "Bleacher Report" cards, then they're probably losing. Just my experience, anyways.
Magic is also one of the guys that had nothing but praise about Lin and his future in the NBA... bandwagon underdog of the moment fan, fairweather fan, etc...
"During the regular season, Houston's offense was better by 1.9 points per 100 possessions with Lin off the floor. " http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...houston-rockets-better-off-without-jeremy-lin
I don't think Jeremy has lost his starting spot, but he will likely have to battle to retain it at this point. It's no longer set in stone.
Just ignore like me. These guys are beyond pathetic. Not worth the time to respond. Doesn't matter what you provide, stats, logical reasoning, etc. they'll just respond with name calling people. So best is just let them live in their own fantasy world where Lin is the evil overlord and they are doing everything they can as "hero rocket fans" to get rid of him.
