Nadir is an egomaniac. He's is apt to do anything and could have easily dropped out of the last race late, gracefully, and spared the country the nightmarish Administration we are in now. He is a millionaire who loves to go around with his battered briefcase and cheap suit. Nadir is still living off the good he did decades ago and anyone who thinks a vote for him, especially this time around, makes any sense whatsoever needs to look in the mirror and ask themselves, "Is it worth four more years of Bush, Ashcroft, Rove, DeLay, Cheney, Rice and company?"
Also one must keep in mind, President Bush himself has not focused on ANY of the Democrat challengers, its far too early for Bush himself hasn't even gone on the offensive yet.. and This is akin to asking who's going to win the Super Bowl in September, We're still an eternity (Politically) away.. Too many unanswered questions. 1. Will there be another terrorist attack on U.S soil between now and then, if so what will the reaction be another rally around Bush or anger and outrage? 2. It's the economy, Stupid. What will be the overall state of the economy in 2004? 3. What will be the state of Iraq in 2004? 4. Will the Democrat Canidate appeal to some of the Red States that were close?.. Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Wisconsin. These are the key states, that were nearly a dead heat in the 2000 election and should be competetive in 2004 as well.. New York has a very good chance of going Red in 2004, paticularly if Cheney steps down and is replaced with Rudy Giuliani.
I like your purposeful misspelling of Nader, it was quite funny. And it is true, the son of gun is a millionare, a millionare who made his money killing the most unique American car of all, the Corvair, with a two-bit hatchet job. Voting for Nader is no different than me voting for the Libertarian candidate. I'm voting based on my beliefs and apparently the Dems aren't liberal enough for the Green Party fringe kooks.
Republicans love to show the red/blue image for 2000 voters. But this is more representative of the *true* turnout. There are very few "red" or "blue" states. Most are purple.
Sorry Karl, as Bill O'Reilly says, I'm not buying it, not buying it. No wonder you want Hilary to run so bad, so you and your crimson tide can overrun the nation with your socialist leanings. You guys deserve each other.
It's way too early to make any generalizations about how the general would do against bush. let's see how he does in the primaries first. i'm not convinced that, despite the presence of much of the clinton team, that he can win the nomination. slick willie was a supremely gifted politician. i'm not sure that absent the man, his message really flies all that well with rank and file dems. but since i'm not one, what do i know? something about the whole clinton/clark axis of arkansas puzzles me tho. assume that hillary has presidential aspirations herself, a safe assumption i think. if clark runs and wins, hillary won't be able to run until 2012. why put the whole weight of the clinton machine behind someone that could keep billary out of office for eight more years? it doesn't make good strategic sense to me.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. You guys can rip on Nader's campaign all you want. But this guy has done more for this country than any other private citizen of the 20th century. His work led *directly* to the EPA, OSHA, Safe Drinking Water Act, Freedom of Information Act, seat belts, Consumer Product Safety Administration, airline passenger rights and others I don't have time to list.
He's also repsonsible for every bad thing this administration has done to the country over the last three years as well. Had he just dropped out of the race, he didnt even have to endorse Gore, just get out. His ego is more swollen than my testicles....
Gore lost because he could not carry his home state. Not because of the size of Nader's ego. Are Republicans Worried About Clark? I think that The Reps at this point are just worried. Iraq and the economy will still be issues next year. A competent Dem candidate who will not back down from Bush should get lots of traction with the electorate. BTW the Dems are very worried about the $250 million Bush will likely spend.
I voted for him in 2000 (a calculated measure; I was in Texas), but wouldn't vote for him in 2004 unless John Ashcroft wins the Democratic nomination. My loathing of a Bush presidency now eclipses my loathing of the two-party oligarchy we have. It didn't in 2000.
Well said. I don't take back anything I said about Nadir, however. I said he was still living off the good he had done years ago... so I acknowledged that he's done some good things for the country in the past. But his ego driven persona has given us this administration and I'll never forgive him for that. I have no doubt that Nadir could have had his pick of cabinet posts that relate to his expertise... the EPA, for example. But this poser could not check his ego at the door long enough to prevent a disaster for the very causes he claims to care so deeply about. Frankly, I'm being too nice about discussing him. I'll stop here.
