Somebody has been getting a little too much sun.. Saying McGrady quit on the Magic is fair game. But if there is a death in the family, especially of the mother of your fiance that just had a baby, you let it be. What a prick.
This guy is a lifetime homer. I actually recognize his face. He's done nothing but hate on T-Mac ever since he left Orlando. He's still bitter. Really, really bitter.
Now take that "Orlando got nothing for T-Mac!" base and couple it with some finely diced "Looking back, T-Mac deal made sense"... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=107213 Then sprinkle in a little of "it is obvious that the Magic improved greatly by trading McGrady"... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=90087 and a dash of "The Magic are gathering a group of guys that resemble the Detroit Pistons and (compared to Houston) we'll see which philosophy works" ... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=79706 ... and VOILA! You have an "ALL OVER THE MAP HATER AGENDA". He doesn't include it in his articles any more, but his email address is HeyPeterK@aol.com.
These articles are stupid, but I don't get the all out defense of his Magic days, I mean T-Mac has grown up and matured greatly since those days, and personally I don't think what the Magic accomplished was anything special, they were basically winning as many games per year as the Rockets were during that time. I wouldn't ever defend anything T-Mac did wrong there, he was very young and immature during those times and it showed when things went bad for the Magic, he always found a way to lay the blame elsewhere and that last season was simply pathetic. However, I wouldn't use none of that against him now with the Rockets, it's irrelevant, he is a completely different player and a completely different person, he has done a complete 180, and I think a lot of the credit should go to Jeff Van Gundy. I mean, even though it doesn't reflect on his stats, as a player he is so much better than I remember him being in Orlando, a genius on the court, and he is becoming a leader. On the Rockets struggles he doesn't ever blame any of his teammates or coaches, he takes responsibility for his personal struggles, and through it all the team is still in great position to make an incredible playoff run, that shows he has grown as a person. Really, the only thing worth worrying about with him is his back, besides that there's no doubt in my mind that he, Yao, and Van Gundy will do everything possible to bring the Rockets back up to championship greatness.
I'm going to agree. I am like one the BIGGEST T-Mac fans out there, but, I'm going to agree. He wasn't very professional in Orlando and he did quit on that team. However, he had no help whatsoever on that team, and he carried them to the playoffs 3 out of 4 years, then he got fed up. He shoudln't have quit on them, but he got fed up. However, he is a totally different player here in Houston, and he is a totally different person. You can tell he likes his teammates (especially Yao), he is not selfish at all. He may not have that win at all costs mentality, but I still think he's a leader , and becoming a better one every game. I want to see how he plays against Phoenix tonight, that will go miles to proving this bitter article wrong. BTW great post JumpMan
Well I guess the writer is just bored with writing "how much the Magic Suck" articles and "why the magic lost another game" articles or the city is just bored of reading the same damn articles. I mean I guess I wouldn't want to pick the Chronicle each morning and read about the Rockets losing all the time. It would start to get depressing and after a while the articles would just not be worth reading. So I figure he would write an article to blame the woes of the team on a player who is no longer even their problem. They are a team that looks like they'll be counting lotto balls for the next decade until the franchise moves city.
It is just sour grapes. Orlando being screw big time by their own organization but too embarrass to admit it own mistake. It is just too bad for their Fans to watch the unwatchable game day in day out. Although they may be better off now after making the Francis trade but it is still different without a superstar Tracy.
Trust me, he does have that mentality, and now that he is concerned with team goals first instead of individual success the Rockets will one day show off the success that mentality can achieve. And just an aside, doesn't everyone agree that we got the best from both of the main pieces of the trade? Francis, whether you like him or not, was at his peak here in Houston, T-Mac is currenty playing at the highest level he has been at, that must leave some Orlando people with a bad taste in their mouths.
LOL! How can you not chuckle when you sense "bitterness" all over that article and numerous others in fine Orlando newspapers? The more they write these articles, the more I laugh about the whole thing. Poor Orlando writers, even going as far as taking a pot shot at the man's dying mother-in-law as nothing serious and mere 'drama'. Class all around
