Khan, you crack me up :).

Days Inn is a dump. Wasn't it the transendental meditation university? Is there still a restaurant there? It's a homeless squat right now. Anything new will be better. Actually, the veteran's development sounds pretty nice.

Trump once faced a problem evicting rent-controlled tenants when he wanted to condo the Tower. He converted the surrounding floors to a temporary "homeless shelter". The obstinate rent-control beneficiaries were out in a month. ;). With some of our homeless, you wouldn't want to live next to them, compassionate or not.

By the way, you can volunteer to serve at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church (on Main near Herman Park) every weekday at noon, homeless are fed on the church patio. Some are crazy, some are addicted, many live in the park, some are surly and unappreciative, some have humor and spirit, all are human.

Could the city step in and stop this development? Only if it took an activist role in planning the entire block. (which is downtown, not midtown). Not part of our general development approach. You'd have to kill seven other properties and 86 the bus station, and barb wire the overpasses. The best is can do is keep the facility and surrounds clean and ordered, with existing code enforced. That could do a lot for the area.

sorry, editing is off. I confused Trader_Jorges requests for game and picnic as a request for Rockets game and picnic.

He's coming to the basketball pickup game and the picnic. be ready, he's no p***y at basketball.
