Yes, except seeing as it's unlikely that this homeless man has spent more than $35k on lottery tickets in his life, his track record is net-positive and he's actually less of a burden on society and tallanvor's precious tax dollars for having played the lottery. Tallanvor should probably go complain about someone who loses at the lottery.

As a single transaction, this homeless man came out as a net positive.

If you count the full transaction, the lottery took in about ~$100K of the poor and the other homeless's money to net $35K for this 1 win. The state in turn make $15K on the money the lottery took in.

You can say, if the people spent $100K into the economy, the state would make net more than $15K.

So maybe he found the money? Is it OK if he found the $5? I assume anyone who has given money to the homeless know there is a chance it wont actually be put into a savings account.

Except one of the issues with homelessness is drug addiction so that wouldn't show up.

Whether an action is moral or immoral is not dependent on a flip of a coin. If you live off the charity and generosity of others then gambling is immoral (win or lose).

Should he eat peanut butter sandwiches and drink water, because, as a poor person, its immoral to over indulge on a hamburger and coffee from McDonald's?

Some of you amaze me. Where in the article does it say that this man was on welfare? Not every person that is homeless is on welfare. You don't have all the facts but you're quick to jump to conclusions.

    How is that indulging?

Going to Red Lobster would be another story.

Not quite sure I have ever seen Red Lobster and indulging used together.

It's pretty clear tallanvor has no experience with the homeless population at all. I've brought this up numerous times - he responds to other parts of the posts, but continually ignores this. His anger wouldn't work so well if he had to acknowledge jumping to conclusions.

He wouldn't need to be on wellfare. He would simply need to be taking more than giving to federal/state government? How much taxes do you think this homeless man pays or has paid in his lifetime?

I don't even know what that means and I have certainly addressed every issue brought up in this thread. Do you mean experience being homeless? do you mean experience helping the homeless? Never been homeless and yes I every donated to goodwill and other charities benefiting the homeless (even though it is irrelevant to this topic).

"Thanks for having me on Jim, I just got back from Red Lobster."

Harrisment, I can't rep you for that, won't allow, but that was strong.

About homeless people, some choose to live like that. They can't cope with actual normal life. I'd say, about 90 percent of the homeless population has some type of mental medical condition. Sometimes, they can't help themselves.

Despite his living conditions, dude was charitable himself. That was very thoughtful of him.

I mean that you continually claim that this man is getting his money from welfare, when you have no idea if that is true. As has been pointed out by multiple people, lots of homeless people are gainfully employed and/or are not supported by welfare.

nope. I said he almost definately lives off the charity and generosity of others. That doesn't necessarily mean wellfare.

That's the second time you have tried to speak for me and whiffed.
