Because the fourth season didn't get picked up until late October (thanks to the increase in viewership) the writers wrote the finale with no cliff hangers. Last night's episode could have effectively ended the series.

My money is on Peter Quinn going Jack Bauer in Istanbul trying to find a recently abducted Carrie.

Overall though, a great season. Didn't particularly like the slow start but it revved up fast and finished strong.

I didn't read this thread, but was it ever determined who masterminded the CIA bombing and who moved the car?

The bombing was masterminded by Javadi and Abu Nazir.

As for who moved the car? That's a trivial detail. Javadi said it was one of Nazir's "People."

It was the guy staying at the motel who was shot by the firm's errand boy (the night Carrie was taken out by Quinn for almost blowing their cover),.

    Again, trivial detail.

I'm still pissed Brody is gone. He's really the only reason I watched the show. It certainly wasn't to watch Carrie act like a crazy wh... . I agree...they should have just ended the show on that finale.

Yeah I remember him now. Still, he wasn't important.

For those wondering, the producers confirmed that Brody is legit dead. None of this SURPRISE! HE'S ALIVE! stuff that has circled the net today.

Jessica and Dana Brody will not be back as regular characters. (Which makes sense, no use for them.)

Really hope the show streamlines next season and focuses on more realistic scenarios that deal with intrigue.

I thought for sure Javadi was going to use a replacement for Brody and find a way to sneak him out. Oh well...at least it removes Dana from the series. That's not a bad thing.

Whatever next season is, it might be tied around whatever that "situation" was after the ceremony.

I suspected they might try to do a fake Brody hanging, but the way they did it, it would be hard to explain how it was faked. Im not sure why they didn't show the remains to make sure the viewers know he wasn't coming back.

I liked the finale. A solid end to the season. Plus, the show needed a refresh and this was a good way to wrap up the old plot and pave the way for something different.

Personally, I would have respected the writers and Showtime more if they had ended the series.

    This.

Maybe even launch a spin-off built around Quinn.

I wonder if Carrie will pick Quinn to come to Istanbul. I hope so. Was it ever explained what Saul does now? I know they said he's in the private sector but what could that entail?

I liked the ending. They had to do it as there is no way people would have tuned in for another season of Brody running and Carrie crying. I hope its the series finale too. Leave it on a good note. But this is Showtime we are talking about. They ran Dexter into the ground. Should have ended Dexter after season 4 and Homeland actually would have been awesome if it ended in season 1 with Brody blowing everyone up.

They did ruin Dexter. They should have killed him off at the end of season 4.

It would be nice if Homeland would recast the series with a new story line every couple years. Homeland has been pretty grounded, as in the story line is not too far fetching. I think it was reaching a bit to blow up Langly. And I think the lifting of sanctions in Iran was a good way to end it versus a complete over throw of the government.

The actor that plays Saul tends to leave shows after three seasons. He just gets bored. He left criminal minds after three seasons as well. I enjoy his acting.

It's been confirmed that Saul is 100% going to be back for season 4.

The showrunner confirmed that Saul is currently set to be working for a private intelligence analysis company and will work with the CIA in some manner, but will be front and center on the show as he has been.

If they intend for the Senator to be the head of the CIA I wish they would have cast a different actor. I don't think the guy they cast has the chops to hang with Saul and Dar as actors.

That would be awesome. He seems to have plenty of back story.
