Same thing happened with my Onkyo. I didn't know it was a known issue when it happened. Took it in to one of the onkyo official repair centers, and got some thing replaced. I wish I would have just got a new receiver then. I got a wiring problem in my house fixed as well, and the receiver worked for a bit longer. Now it's not working again. It's always the same HDMI problem where it won't get a signal when I switch to the xbox or blu ray. For a while if I let the receiver warm up for an hour or more it would work, but last night even that wouldn't work.

I keep seeing such good things about Onkyo, and for the price it was great while it worked. I guess that problem doesn't happen on all their products, but I won't be getting another one. From the research I've done their products used much more dependable, and have dropped in recent years.

I think the next one I'll get is the Pioneer vsx-1122-k. I'm going to order it from Amazon on Friday.

I have the Pioneer vsx-1021-k (a step below what you're looking at getting), FB, and absolutely loved it. The sound was incredible through my Klipsch speakers. The video processing was excellent. Everything looked and sounded vastly better than what it replaced. Then it quit on me the other day. There's a flashing red light. Looked it up in the manual, and it said to reboot it, and if that didn't work, contact them because it could be a serious problem. Unplugging it and then plugging it back in (what the manual suggested) did nothing, and I haven't attempted to call Pioneer yet (been very busy and figure it will be a very frustrating experience, ending with me sending it in and then waiting for weeks... I hope not! maybe I'll get lucky). Just thought I'd mention it. Again, I loved it until it quit working. I got an amazing deal on it about a year ago from Best Buy. They were trying to move the demo 1021's and had them priced at an absurd $200 bucks. I asked if a store in Austin had a new one in a box at the same price, and a store across town did. Was thrilled with the deal until that flashing red light! :-(-

Assuming you have no problems with it (big caveat, I know!), I think you'll love the purchase.

edit: This looks very nice, although it's 7.1 instead of 7.2, FB. I think the Pioneer is a great choice (if you don't have problems), but Yamaha is a good alternative. I have a Yamaha 3.1 sound bar in my bedroom with a built-in receiver in the sub (sounds strange, but works great), and love it, which is why I mention the brand.

Thanks so much. Is your Pioneer that conked out still under warranty? I was planning on doing the 2 year warranty. I always want to be informed of any potential issues before I make a purchase like this. I'll check out the Yamaha too.
