There really aren't good defensive metrics available if that's what you're referring to. I remember Morey mentioning this once and that he wouldn't trust anything that's out there. Defense is just too noisy and generally if you've been on good defending teams you will have better defensive numbers. Hopefully you aren't one of the idiots that thinks Alex Caruso is the most dominant perimeter defender in the last 5 years because he's ranked higher than everyone else. You just have to scout players. And, everyone who has watched the Warriors' run knows opposing teams hunt Steph on switches and he gets blown by with regularity.
Yes, they hunt Curry b/c he was the weakest defender in their death lineup. That doesn't make him a bad defender, especially since his 4 teammates were all considered plus defenders. Which guards don't get regularly blown by?
Hunting players to iso against is slow and disrupts the offense. Most teams only do it if there is a particularly weak defender. But there are guards that do a good job staying in front of guys like Jrue, pre injury Klay, Marcus Smart, etc. No one wins every play on defense but the good defenders usually make it much tougher.
Sorry, but that's flat out wrong. The offense will hunt the worst defender on the defense. That doesn't mean he's a bad defender.....it just means his teammates are all better. You realize you just listed elite defenders, right? If that's your argument, then yeah, Curry isn't an elite defender.

I think is fair to say he will never be the plus defender he used to be, he is not Wes Mathews washed though. He is a tier above Danny Green and a tier below Makail Bridges. What will be interesting to see over time is if his good nights are more frequent than the off ones. No question he is overpaid. He would be lucky to pull 15 mil a year on the open market now versus the Max deal he has.
