You mean the Preston Wilson that is now batting .270 for the year? That Preston Wilson. I have been one of his harshest critics, but at least he is coming around. Adam Everett and Lane are not. DD
For some reason, Preston has hit much better on the road than the "hitter-friendly" MMP that he was basically signed for. Also, Lane will have to make adjustments (just like he did after last May)... but he's still getting on base via the walk better than most of the everyday players. For now, he'll split time with Burke... but Jason is still very much a part of this team (and has the capability to turn it around). He was also our second best hitter last post-season... the guy can be valuable.
That's true of batting average, certainly. Lane has a higher OPS, gets on base more, has scored more runs, and has hit more HRs than Wilson. Wilson does have a higher BA and more RBIs. Everett, while worse statistically across the board, has actually driven in as many runs as Wilson - and has done so from the 7/8 spot as opposed to the 5 spot right behind Berkman and Ensberg.
True, most of those early in the season, not a lot lately though, outside of that bases clearing double about 2 weeks ago at MMP. DD
