Did anybody else find it weird that the 5 MIT students on the team were all good-looking? I'd be surprised if there were 5 good-looking students in the entire school Oh, and the movie suuuuuuucked. Spacey, in particular, was terrible - not entirely his fault, though, because his lines were pretty much written to seem as melodramatic as possible.
32% on Rotten Tomatoes. Sounds like a winner! There was a movie a few years back called Better Luck Tomorrow that was very well done with Asian American actors and a director. It was different and interesting simply because it showed a group that pretty much gets ignored in the movies. I was hoping the director would continue along the same path and make more movies like that. He then went on to make Tokyo Drift...ugh. I guess there really isn't any hope for Asians in movies.
That is basically it in a nutshell a Movie with an All White Cast will draw more people than if it was a All Minority Cast Take a Lord of the Rings - No Minorities in site [esp not for the 'good guys'] you make the exact same movie. . . with all minority actors. ..and it would not be as well received Hollywood knows this. . and caters to it It is not unlike the DINER OWNER not serving Minorities . . . not because he was racist . . but because Most of his customers were racist. . . . from a business stand point. . . it makes sense. . but morally . .it is problematic So . . .making a movie with less minorities is just 'Good Business' but . . it is morally problematic IMO Rocket River
Jeff Ma was on FCP (Full Court Press on NBA Sirius Radio) talking about how it was cool being at the tables with NBA players. Ewing, Rick Mahorn etc. Jeff specifically said "hey, this movie is NOT my autobiography".
that movie was just ok. the whole john cho having his parents killed thing was stupid. the girl was hot in the movie.
I liked the movie. http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/movie/17357573/review/19580819/21 3 stars Rolling Stone
that was the part i remember the most about that movie. when i was san fran, i was wondering where the sushi place was with the naked chicks.
It is the same thing the author took issue with and left the project so I am not alone. the story is abut race and culture.
Sci Fi movies tells me of a future Whitey Uprising that kills off 95% of the other races. You've been warned.
LMAO Yea. . . me and my friends . . sci fi lovers all would joke. . MAN!! . .Black folx don't make it to the future!! It has gotten better . . . I enjoy the mix of different people and races in movies it is the enteractions that make good story telling every see a movie call GRAND CANYON good Solid Movie Rocket River
Yeah, it's like the movie Crash long before the "everything is connected" movies became in fashion. I mean come on!! It's like spaceships are designed with one language only. Those who can't speak American need not apply.
Kind of, but not really. I wouldn't call the white moviegoers racist because they have a tendency to watch more movies with a white cast? People of all races tend to do that because that's what they relate to. Black people watch more movies with a black cast, white people with a white cast, and asian with an asian cast.
because this detroys the character of Smith. He is supposed to be a guy who does not really have his life together. Going through a divorce, lost his kid, being called a racist, had a bribe charge in the past, having his life destroyed by "the weasel". He is never supposed to be comfortable during this time in the story. John Conner was supposed to be in control and Smith was figuring out which side Conner is on etc. I am not sure if you saw the movie but he was in total control with the gang guys, repeating Conner's instruction about japanese back to him but in reference to the black dudes.
Maybe blame the Hong Kong movie industy for the typecast. Chow Yun Fat made a career out of playing gangster roles. The last hong kong movies that achieved cult status internationally have been gangster movies, ie infernal affairs and the young and dangerous series.
