The NBA reviewed it Friday and determined that it was released in time.

No the 1.6 is incorrect. I figure they got that number from adding the time of delay to the time on the clock.

Meaning there was a .8 delay and then .8 of clock resulting in 1.6. Not that the shot itself took 1.6

I timed it, I know it didn't take that long. 1.1 at the most and 1.0 at least.

Oh and as for the league saying it took "23 frames". I call BS. I'm willing to bet money they tried as hard as they could to make that fit.

Meaning starting their count from when Roy had full and complete possession as opposed to just when it hits his hands. And stopping the count once his wrist begins to flick as opposed to when it leaves his hands.

Once again, I timed it and I am 100 percent certain it took more than .8 seconds. Not by a lot, but enough that it should not have counted.

I have an AVI clip that starts right when Roy is about to catch the ball.
I put it into VirtualDub, advancing it frame by frame @ 25 frames/second
I advanced it forward to .8 second point of the CLIP (NOT the game clock) -

Looks like the ball is right at or just leaving his fingertips from my own .8 mark. If 25 frames is a full second of elapsed time, it was at the 20th-21st frame.

I also did one at 30 frames/and advanced it to the .8 point. Looks like the ball is off his fingers again, the 24th frame.

    *Edit*
I just tried matching to see if the VirtualDub time and frames matched with the game clock time. Sure enough each .1 that came off the game clock, .1 seconds comes off VirtualDub time as well....

    Conclusion:
It did not take Roy 1.6 seconds to catch and shoot.

Why do we care if took 1.6 seconds to shoot or not?

I think I care if it took 0.8 seconds to shoot.

anyone do the same thing on Yao's shot? If it took longer then .8 seconds go out the window.
