John Hollinger's NBA power Ranking has Rockets at the 5th, Hawks at the 1st, Suns at 7th, and Lakers at 8th. The Rockets have exceeded my highest expectation so far. But I still cannot believe Hollinger's numbers actually put us at the 5th in the league. Marc Stein put the Rockets at 11th, which I think is more realistic. According to Hollinger, Houston Rockets were: 6th in assists per game (15.6), 7th in possessions per game (97.7), 8th in Offensive rebound rate (28.2%), 11th in Effective Field Goal Precentage (50.4%), 13th in points scored per 100 possessions (104.6), 13th in points allowed per 100 possessions (101.2), 15th in turnover per 100 possessions (24.8), 20th in defensive rebound rate (73.7%)
The last bit that I bolded shows, more than anything else, why we miss Yao and what he brings to the team. Thanks for the info!
Doesn't Hollinger update on nearly a daily basis? It just seems like there could be a flood of these threads and it might be best to consolidate them.
This is a young team that is still learning. The Suns game showed that they still need to learn how to close out wins.... and they will!
Do we have the hardest schedule because of the number of back to backs we have, or because of the number of high quality opponents sandwiched together in a short time?
Check the link again-- we're now at #4, ahead just ahead of the Lakers. http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings
so far, as of now, with the squad we have now, we can play with anyone in a 7 game series, i'm not saying we'd win, but we'd take anyone 6-7 games. i like the youth, the energy. it's a nice change from yao and his half court games, although i do miss having him and a healthy (mentally and physically) mac.
i can't believe OKC is rated so high and SAS is so low. it's nice though, i hate SAS. and we're ahead of the ponies. glad to see that.
We also should have won the Mavericks game. And the Hawks game. I like it that team have close victories and losses though. Victories for physical gratitude, and losses for moral victories.
