Even if the Nets trade for Johnson and are unable to get Dwight, let's be honest, Houston would still not be his first preferred destination. Also, whose to say Brooklyn is trading for Johnson because they know D-Will is going to Dallas, which would make Dallas Howard's preferred destination. Even if D-Will is willing to stay with Nets with Johnson, the Lakers would probably be more willing to offer Bynum for Howard with Brooklyn out of the way and a D-Will less Dallas. The key to all of this is, Howard is not coming to Houston!
But Bynum plus what? We could literally offer Orlando anything and everything on the roster. In fact, since we didn't move up in the draft, we have even more to offer.
I know the rumors seem to suggest that Orlando wants to rebuild and go OKC mode with the new GM from OKC, but I'm not so sure he does. My suggestion would be Bynum and a first round draft pick for Howard and throw in some Lakers filler if salaries do not match. I believe Orlando would like either a star or a center that is remotely close to Howard. I just do not believe Orlando is all that interested in our prospects but that's just my opinion.
No doubt, your absolutely right. I just don't believe Orlando would want to do a trade with us. I believe the Lakers are about the only team they would want to trade with. If they decide to keep Howard and and he walks in free agency his first choice would not be us, that was my point about the preferred destination. I honestly believe if it came down to staying in Orlando or coming here, Dwight would stay in Orlando. Orlando knows it is Brooklyn, Lakers, or some other contender or bust for Howard. If he doesn't get traded I really doubt he walks away from the money Orlando could offer. After all this Dwight drama, how crazy would it be if he stays in Orlando?
I am not sure why you'd want him (DHoward). If he'd put ORL through all this grist (and it obviously didn't end w/ Otis Smith), then why would the next city he travels to be any different. I agree w/ Another Brother.
