I dunno... not many people know the guy who does hold the record (Norm Van Brocklin)... so I'm not sure how "glamorous" of a record it really is. I guess if he was on the bubble for the HOF, it would have helped him... but alas, he got in anyways.
Remember the last time an NFL season approached with a Houston franchise labeled as one of the favorites to go to the Super Bowl? I do. Its been more than a decade and two franchises ago and Warren Moon was the leader of that team. Yeah, I know the Warren Moon Oilers never lived up to lofty expectations, but going years without pro football in Houston and watching the current growing pains of the Texans franchise should at the very least make us appreciate what its like to have a winning franchise in Houston. Congratulations Warren Moon. Many will remember the Buffalo game, and others a disastrous opening day game in Pittsburgh, but for this Oilers fan, I'll remember one Sunday in Kansas City as one Houston QB had the all time record for passing yards in a game within his sights only to choose to run the ball and run the clock out because the Oilers MIGHT have to face the Chiefs in the playoffs. I think that epitomized what Warren Moon was all about.
Warren Moon was yesterday inducted to the NFL Hall of Fame and is the first African American quarterback to be inducted. Unlike his fellow inductee and quarterback, Troy Aikman, who will be joining the ranks of many White quarterbacks in the Hall of Fame. There, you happy?
thanks...I was just about to ask...I saw Troy's at the gym, but mised Warren's, the one I really wanted to here...
