You're lucky you don't need to go to hockey games in Canada! Canucks games are sold out for the whole season way in advance...

Plus...with the salary cap on the rise every year - he'll make more by signing a long-term deal next year instead of this one.

We'll see. I mean, he'll have the same problem next summer that he had right now: Detroit won't be able to afford him.

Granted, if his wishes to win a cup are really his driving motivation there isn't a better team to be on than Detroit. All that experience, all that depth, all that versatility, the system, the coaching, etc etc. I can't blame him in that regard for passing on the up-and-coming Pens who are new to this grand stage.

Hopefully, Satan and Fedotenko can pick up some of the scoring load and as much sense as it might not make at this point, i'd still love to bring back Jagr. He could be an absolute assassin on the Crosby line. Too much talent is never a bad thing, right? :)

That's disappointing. Clearly, the biggest advantage of going overseas is the money but when you're somebody like Jagr that's accumulated boatloads of money through the years you would think he might want to try for another cup before hanging it up.

It's not like biggest advantage of playing in Russia is the competitive hockey or anything.

I've always liked Jagr in spite of his showboating, arrogance and general quirkiness. But he's an odd duck.

From New York City to Omsk, Russia. Too bad.

(and if you're a Pittsburg fan you'll get no pity from the rest of us about the offseason! You gots a fine team there. We'd gladly trade you straight up for the Canucks, and even throw in some left over Grizzlies memorabilia).

Yeah, Jagr was always a strange dude. I still don't like this move for him but the money in Russia is considerable. Hard for anybody to pass up.

....and i'm not asking for pity, it just stinks you get to the grand stage of the Finals, lose, then right when you're poised to bring everybody back & give it another shot teams start picking you apart in free agency. Oh well, I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Like I said, I don't hate Hossa now but he's going to get booed in his return here x100 compared to what Jagr & others dealt with. Personally, I hated the idea of booing Jagr but don't tell that to the herds of drunken Yinzers. :)
