Actually, the Rockets were near the bottom of the league in drawing offensive fouls last year. Battier, Chuck, and sometimes Juwan were pretty good at it. But no one else.

It might have to do with the way JVG preached defense. He wasn't fan of drawing charges, if I remember.

Yea, Battier and Chuck were really good at it. But Juwan...I do not think so.

This year, looks like Scola knows somethin about takin' the charges.

I couldn't agree more. With the talent we have, we can afford to have some of those nights where tracy is 4/15 and still come out on top. All those guys mentioned will be "x factors" for us, where they'll just light it up. I'd love to see a night where battier just rips kobe a new one and drops 50 on him.

Haha, hey one could dream right?

Should be a better version of Doug Christie.

No he's actually right. During the Hornets game, Shane ran the fast break a couple of times and did make a bounce pass to Scola.

You guys are just referring to two different games.

The difference would be we can also play Scola at Center and have a small lineup with the same defensive effectiveness.

You werent slighting Chuck, just that the difference between them is the Scola hair.
When Scola takes the charge (like Ginboli long-locked version), there's hair flying every which way which makes it more noticeable and easier to call... And his hair flopping around before the charge is an additional distraction to the shooter, its just something Chuck along with his lack of jumper doesnt have...

Way easy for everyone to say Juwan is never good at anything, but he was adequate at drawing offensive foul calls from what I saw. McGrady, Alston, Yao, Head, anyone else in the rotation never hit the ground

Scola seems better at it though, way better. And looks to provide some actual D besides just drawing calls along with it

I this is going to help McGrady the most. He's was still a damn good shooter coming off of picks from shots inside the three. Adelman's system should free him up for a lot of these kind of shots.

It's different from last year in that now we have both Chuck and Scola taking charges....not to mention Battier. Then, you have a 7'6" blocking shots and Deke with his sharp elbows..... so it's going to be real annoying driving into the lane against the Rockets this year. Before, we were thinner at the power forward...now we can have an energy guy there all 48 minutes.

With all our depth, maybe Tmac can be limited to 30 minutes a night till early March so that we can keep him fresh for the playoffs. With our depth, our guys can run their motor 100% without having to save a little in the tank for the 4th quarter. Shane's minutes will have to be reduced to 25 minutes to make way for some of our other weapons like Bonzi, not to mention James, Franics and maybe Head.

"Silly Battier, you can't take the charge with the ball in your hands!"
