Shane's contract is almost up and he's getting old. I don't see him being on the team much longer.

Forgot, Battier's offense. I usually compare Battier to the hated Matt Harpring, for the offense you're supposed to want from Battier. Besides being stronger, I dont think Harpring has any offensive ability better than Battier. Just that Harpring has a tough football attitude on offense. One plays aggressive offense, the other plays reluctant p***y offense. Its much too late for Battier to develop offense, but I thought he left off 2-3 aggressive points off his scoring average easy.

As far as who I'd keep, I like Dadakota's strategy of keeping Battier as an expiring with Yao to possibly blow the team up if it comes to it. I also think having Jared Jeffries along with Ariza isnt that much of a dropoff if Battier is dealt away. Jeffries might have out-Battiered Battier with the intangibles and versatility. So I'm not really worried who stays or goes out of that core, I wont miss anyone.

Plus we always got Chuck Hayes to apply the perimeter D on the Paul Pierce types of the league

I think they way the team is constructed the Rockets won't have to blow up it all up to start again. Just cut out the old and add the new piece.

I'm not confident Battier's goodwill rep will last until the trade deadline.

When pressed to name a player currently playing for the MLE that was decidedly better than Ariza you offered Rasheed Wallace.

Nobody on this planet should ever listen to a word you say about anything, and you've offered so many words. Shameful.

But surely Hayes and Jeffries along with Battier will be packaged in a trade , don't you think? :p

If it were only possible to transplant Shane's brain, into Ariza's body. I'd take that.

Ariza is better on offense and is still growing but battier is great on defense and provides a solid veteran leadership. I'd rather see Ariza get traded, just because I wanna see Battier retire as a Rocket and Ariza can be replaced. I'd rather keep both and just get rid of Jeffries

I would love to keep Battier. But if we have a major trade this summer its more likely that Battier gets dealt since he has a expiring contract... :(

    Rasheed Wallace? LOL

And Ariza was going to get the MLE from somebody. It's not like the Rockets were the only team clamoring for his services.

Fact of the matter is, no matter what DD says, Ariza is well worth the money, considering his age.

Don't get me wrong, i like Ariza, it's just that Battier can teach defense while playing. Towards the end of the season, the team was getting away from their known defense of the past. Far away! Maybe that has something to do with Adelmans type of offense. With Battier possibly sharing some of that defensive knowledge over the offseason, we can get back to that.

much luv for shane a real heart player & a gr8 rocket i hope he come's back to be a coach for the rockets after the team he goes too figures out that his career is on the down side & as much as it would hurt i think Memphis would be foolish not to think of him at the next head coaching change

Morey said he was the one telling Ariza to keep shooting so don't blame Ariza. Once Martin was traded here Ariza quit chucking up shots and his ppg dropped as well.

Am I supposed to read the third sentence with 33% less volume, or is that just a typo?

If we do indeed trade for Bosh, the really is no way we can take on Turkoglu's contract as well -- that's like $25-$28M. To get to $21 million we'd have to gut the team because Scola becomes a base year contract if we pay him 120% of his $3.5M salary in a sign and trade. However, if we can afford Bosh, I would love to get Marco Belinelli in the deal. Unfortunately, I doubt they would go for Scola, Battier and Taylor for Bosh and Belinelli, but that would be sweet.

Once they knew yao was out for the season, they shoulde traded shane. When he was getting the pub, his alue was sky high and they didnt pull the trigger. Shane is part of the old past failures in the playoffs. He's a likeable guy, but he's done.
