Ok ive had both albums since the release date, and ive been listening to both. I can honestly say both of the records are good, and it really just depends on your mood. Ive been listening more to the new 50, so far my fav track is " I still Kill" w Akon. Im not an Akon fan, but that track is definately dope. I recommend everyone buy both.
Unlike most of the posters on the bbs, I don't really like Stronger that much. Stronger's alright but its not even the best song on the album. I'd give it a 7.5/10 or an 8/10. In no particular order: Bittersweet - 7/10 Champion - 9/10 Good life - 9/10 Everything I am - 9/10 Flashing Lights - 8.5/10 The Glory - 8/10 I Wonder - 8/10 Can't Tell Me Nothing - 8.5/10
Again, opinions will differ. What he's done is "cute", but nothing special I think. To be honest, nothing legendary came out of either album.None of these albums have a song that will be remembered for a long time.
Cute? haha...Kanye's lyrics, production and growth as an artist blow what 50 has done...50 is still doing the same stuff, the same recycled formula. Take a chance and innovate. "The Glory", "Big Brother", "Coming Home", "Everything I am" are all classics!
I guess i'll share my opinion on both albums. Kanye has some good tracks but overall I think 50 is better. The thing I don't like about Graduation is that almost all of the songs have the same tempo which makes the cd drag on. Grant you 50 has some awful tracks (Fire, Peep Show, Touch the Sky), overall he has some pretty good tracks. Releasing Straight to the Bank & Amusement Park as his 1st singles really hurt 50's sales though.
I listened to both albums and thus far I think they are both sub par. None of those songs really blew me away or anything. I'd give them both collectively a nice B-.
I just wish every record of every genre of music would be released as a double CD. One disc is the regular album and the 2nd disc is the instrumental version of the album.
That wouldn't really fly in most rap CD's.. a lot of them are crap with the lyrics anyways. But can't you find those instrumentals online anyways?
only a small, very small amount of albums(like .009%) are released as instrumental version too. and most of the time they are vinyl only. I would want like the CD/VBR quality version. From the intro to the last track. Check out Dr Dre's Chronic 2001 (Instrumental Only) album. It was actually released as a CD. Imagine both of these albums released as instrumental versions too.
Kanye should win just for letting Zach Galifianakis direct and act in his Can't Tell Me Nothin video <object width="425" height="353"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PpwgYsYWwdc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PpwgYsYWwdc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="353"></embed></object>
Based on some of what I've heard from both albums, neither is nearly good enough to force me to replace Lupe's last album in my CD changer..."Food and Liquor" is FAR superior to both. Heck, some of Lupe's mixtapes (not to mention Cham's last mixtape) are far superior to both albums. May be they both can just retire and stick to producing...
nah, give me P.E, and Geto Boyz and I'll be good to go... I just hate all this new rap, Turning in to an oldtimer I guess...
Sample list from the new kanye "Champion" - Kid Charlemagne by Steely Dan "Stronger" = Harder, better, faster, stronger by Daft punk "Good life" = P.Y.T. by michael jackson "Drunk and hot girls" = Sing swan song by Can "Glory" = Save the sountry by Laura Nyro "Good Morning" = Someone saved my life by Elton John
Thanks for posting! I was going to ask someone about what songs he sampled but wasn't sure if anyone knew...
Really listen to the songs and they are as deep as any of his previous albums. I still like his first 2 better but this album is not far behind.
