I think he's biased by thinking takeover was on the same level as ether.

I admitted that Nas won the beef, how am I bias.....

Takeover was a dual shot to Nas AND Prodigy. A very well executed shot.

I'm not even the biggest pac fan but my vote goes to him hands down. Granted Jay has created an empire in hip hop, he'll never be remembered for the type of lyricism pac brought.

You don't know that though. I think Pac was on his way to being a multi-entertainment mogul himself. If Master P, who was once worth $200-400 million himself, can do it I wouldn't put it past Pac.

True and it is subjective because of that so there is no definitive answer.

Pac started off doing the same thing but he died before rap artists branched out into clothing lines, endorsement deals etc. I believe he would have been a major player in all that had he been around.

Again, if he was alive he may have been way past 13. Pac has 11 and 8 of those were released AFTER his death. One of those is also diamond certified (10+ million albums), one of only 5 rappers to have that certification (Eminem, Outkast, MC Hammer and Big are the others). Pac will probably see another diamond certification soon as well since All Eyez on Me is over 9 million sold. Jay-Z's Vol. 2...Hard Knock life is his highest seller at 5.5. million. Honestly, sales don't mean much to me anyway.

Again, classic, best etc. is subjective. I've seen lists where Jay-Z didn't even have an album crack the top 10.

I'll agree with this. I'm not sure Dre wrote for Eazy-E, he may have, but I know he did a lot of the production.

Honestly, Vol 2...Hard Knock life was nothing special.

I don't take shots at him because of any beef he has had with other artists, in fact I don't take shots at all. I honestly think he is overrated. I think the death's of Pac and Big left a huge void in the rap world and Jay-Z quickly filled it but I don't see him doing anything unworldly.

Again, this is subjective. Anybody can think anybody is better than another, it doesn't take much. I'll agree that Jay-Z's resume is much more prolific than Pac but there is an obvious reason for that.

Again, I think he is overrated, he is good don't get me wrong but when you're the greatest you don't have to keep reminding everybody because they will recognize it if it is true.

This here might as well be a "Hakeem vs Karl Malone" thread.

As though you cant already see where the loyalties lie ... a DISINGENUOUS attempt at appearing "objective" , off fanboy level support for 1 over the other. As though he hasnt already put in considerable work before putting down Jay-z's credibilty.

Its not so much about having favorites, thats fine. Its does believe people really are dumb and dense time and time again?

At least its set up where everyone except the op can have a discussion.
(And its not like anyone's minds get "changed" anyway, the choices are kinda set)

Thread is subjective, it holds no real winner. It doesn't ask, who's a better lyricist, who has better flow &/or who is more successful etc etc

The poll itself isn't bias, I don't give a **** about a Beyonce joke, fact of the matter is.... when you start a thread with a poll you're implying that you want to hear people's opinion anonymously or distinctively, now why make a poll to agree with the people that share your vote & disagree with people that don't? Hey if it's in the garm & it's about how great Hakeem is, i'll play & i'll agree with you for the simple fact that it's a Rockets forum, I am a Rockets fan & I could potentially be learning new things about our teams history. However this isn't the Garm & neither of these rappers are Houston/Texas bred so as an OP why bring bias?

At the end of the day debating is fun & we all do cheer for the Rockets. I've always known i've been in the minority supporting Jay-Z on this board. It's cool with me. I do think it's unfair to compare someone that lived out his prime to someone that didn't. Did I vote? Yes, I voted for Jay-Z. Do I think the people that said Pac are in the wrong? No I don't.

At least you are honest and I can respect that. Jayz is fine but hardly the messiah.

Also this notion that you have to write your own stuff 100% is a joke when all these guys are using ghost writers collaborators and beats guys. It's a compilation of people and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day its the song itself.

Even though kanye stole the intro from gold digger from ray charles its still well done.

for example Elvis THE KING didnt and frank sinatra didnt write own stuff and guess what? they are pretty decent..

and besides that jayz is a 'biter not a writer'. Here's a pretty decent collection of all that jayz stole. Dont take my word for it:

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ybEZF4Vbe3A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Even Nas gets in on it:
"How much of Biggie's rhymes is gonna come out your fat lips"

mods please close this thread its embarrassing to reality.

Because ether make takeover look almost trash and yet you said they were about even.

And will people stop talking about jay z' empire that does not alone make hime a great rapper that makes him a great business man but difference. Just ask Diddy and 50 cent

    It's arguably better than ether.

You guys on here severely underrate Jay Z because the only image you guy have of him is post-comeback. Unless you've listened to all of his early work you really can't have an opinion on how he is/was. I would easily put him and Biggie in the top 5 of all time ahead of Pac but that's just my opinion and I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

"I'm not a biter I'm a writer for myself and others
I say a BIG verse I'm only biggin' up my brother,
Biggin' up my borough, I'm big enough to do it,
I'm that thorough, plus I know my own flow is foolish"

I already said jay z in his prime is top five but that does not change the fact ether killed takeover.
