The New Danger is garbage. Get "Black on Both Sides" instead. It's a classic.

Drake is a great up and coming artist out of Toronto. One of Lil Wayne's protege's very versitale. He raps as well as sings on his own tracks. The cd title is So Far Gone.

Well each city or region has it's own flavor and from what I've heard of out New York and the Bay Area I've really liked.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I have a lot of downloading to do LOL.

This deserves another recommendation. I've used it to find many great underground acts. It's a shame that the hip-hop that is forced down our throats is the garbage by Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Akon, Flo Rida and crappy "artists" like that.

K of G.. maybe you watched the one time they lip synced.. either way, their music if off the chain..

notorius thugs, take me home, crossroads, altogether sick..

Also, go get the song "Hot Revolver" - Lil Wayne.. that's not really rap, but I love it.

I always recommend to anyone who is even just a minor rap fan, that they should listen to A Prince Among Thieves by Prince Paul all the way through in one sitting. I generally hate rap skits and opera style albums (rock operas), but this is probably the only "rap opera" album ever made and it is perfect! The plot is very linear and easy to follow, the songs advance the story perfectly, and it draws from a wide variety of rap styles, tons of guest appearances on both the songs and the skits.

It was meant to me made into a movie, but the funding just never came through. They did some compilations for the movie that gives you and idea what could have been. I have a hard time thinking of a better rap album.

If you want to get all "historical" about it.
    http://www.itstherub.com/radio.htm

Its huge mp3s of rap songs of every year from 1979-1999. The 90's parts is over 1 GB.

    Here's the long '96 playlist:

Prince Paul produced the majority of De La Soul's catalog.....everything he touches is gold.

I remember him; he won the Red Bull Big Tune DJ contest a few years back. I totally forgot about him because I didn't know it was spelled The ARE and not The R. I'll be sure to check out the vids and the streaming music when I get home. Thanks for posting these!
