Not really hip hop, but I've been listening to this new kid out of the UK named Natty, check him out...he's got a bit of a reggae influnce.
Drake is a great up and coming artist out of Toronto. One of Lil Wayne's protege's very versitale. He raps as well as sings on his own tracks. The cd title is So Far Gone.
Nas Tupac Naughty by Nature Tribe called Quest Ice Cube Snoop Dogg Dj Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince Eric B and Rakim Geto Boyz LL Cool J Biggee Smalls Special Ed KRS 1 Boogie Down Productions Das Efx Run DMC
Well each city or region has it's own flavor and from what I've heard of out New York and the Bay Area I've really liked. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I have a lot of downloading to do LOL.
This deserves another recommendation. I've used it to find many great underground acts. It's a shame that the hip-hop that is forced down our throats is the garbage by Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Akon, Flo Rida and crappy "artists" like that.
K of G.. maybe you watched the one time they lip synced.. either way, their music if off the chain.. notorius thugs, take me home, crossroads, altogether sick.. Also, go get the song "Hot Revolver" - Lil Wayne.. that's not really rap, but I love it.
yo, we are having Houston's own The ARE in studio this week on the show (Houston Sports Rapp on 1560 Saturday Nights)....I created a playlist for yall to preview some of his work. Most of these are Houston artists.....just wanted to let you know thee IS quality local hiphop. <img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://counters.gigya.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.0NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEyNDM5NjkxMjUxNzEmcHQ9MTI*Mzk2OTEzNjY3MSZwPTE4MDMxJmQ9Jmc9MSZ*PSZvPWVkMTdjMTZmYmNlNjQ1MmU4M2RjZWQwNjc5MmUxNjZi.gif" /><center><p style="visibility:visible;"><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/swf/mp3/fetish-mp3player.swf" height="270" width="410" style="width:410px;height:270px"><param name="movie" value="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/swf/mp3/fetish-mp3player.swf" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="scale" value="noscale" /><param name="salign" value="TL" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"/><param name="flashvars" value="myid=22871454&path=2009/06/02&mycolor=2D2D2D&mycolor2=FFFFFF&mycolor3=77ADD1&autoplay=true&rand=0&f=4&vol=100&pat=0&grad=false&ow=410&oh=270"/></object><br><a href="http://www.mixpod.com/playlist/22871454"><img src="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/images/btn-get-tracks.gif" alt="Music" title="Get Music Tracks!" border="0"></a><a href="http://www.mixpod.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/images/btn-create.gif" alt="Playlist" title="Create Your Free Playlist!" border=0></a><a href="http://www.mixpod.com/ringtones/22871454"><img src="http://assets.myflashfetish.com/images/btn-get-ringtones.gif" alt="Ringtones" title="Get Ringtones From This Playlist!" border="0"></a><br />Create a <a href="http://mixpod.com">MySpace Music</a> <a href="http://mixpod.com">Playlist</a> at <a href="http://mixpod.com">MixPod.com</a></p></center> And a two part vid with him doing his thing. I always recommend to anyone who is even just a minor rap fan, that they should listen to A Prince Among Thieves by Prince Paul all the way through in one sitting. I generally hate rap skits and opera style albums (rock operas), but this is probably the only "rap opera" album ever made and it is perfect! The plot is very linear and easy to follow, the songs advance the story perfectly, and it draws from a wide variety of rap styles, tons of guest appearances on both the songs and the skits. It was meant to me made into a movie, but the funding just never came through. They did some compilations for the movie that gives you and idea what could have been. I have a hard time thinking of a better rap album. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xNolfaOsd4U&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xNolfaOsd4U&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
