Wow. As much as I like music, I pay attention to the words too. Rap has never interested me especially the lyrics of the past 20 years. Not saying this will change my mind but Hopsin has my undying respect...and support. And if I was to buy my first rap album, this would be it.
Didn't realize he put out a new video so thanks for posting. De's definitely an interesting guy. Also for those suggesting he needs to get on a better label, I think he's said repeatedly that he refuses to join a major label and wants to stay independent. He's also big on staying semi-underground and avoiding the mainstream hip hop scene (which he obviously despises). And yes the eyes are contact lenses. Part of his act.
I usually avoid all the "check out this underground rapper!" threads, but I'm glad I checked this one. I've always preferred the socially-aware rappers of the 80's/90's over today's predictable mindless hip hop. Rap is such a beautiful art form when used right and it has limitless potential. Seems like such a waste to use it to brag about how much money you make or have contrived feuds with other rappers , etc.
Hopsin will be performing at the House of Blues in Houston on 9/20: http://www.livenation.com/event/0C004902E53DA9D2?c=EML_LN_18346&camefrom=EMLN_18346 Just an FYI for those who might be interested
