It is also popularly called Vatertag (Father's Day) or Männertag: fathers, like mothers on Mother's Day, receive a small present from their children. Men often take advantage of the opportunity to leave their wives and children at home on this day and go out drinking with their friends."

Leave your wife and kids behind to go get wasted with your buddies? Sounds awesome; I don't know why so many people are bashing the idea.

I hadn't even clicked on or read this thread, but for some reason today when I saw a fresh-baked cranberry-orange scone I whispered, himmelfahrt, i want that.
