Why is he so scared of a recount? Besides, wasn't he saying the election would be rigged? So he should be supporting this for the sake of transparency.

If it was reversed, the left would be raging how Trump refuses to accept the results. Quite frankly I do not look forward to every election dragging on into december because both sides are demanding recounts.
Self-serving rhetoric coming from a party that has won two elections in the last 16 years while losing the popular vote. It is not a great exaggeration to say we are determining the fate of the world for the next 4 years by virtue of razor thin margins in a few midwestern states, rather than by will of the majority of Americans. That is the way the system is set up, but we damn well better make sure it is correct. If that means things drag on a few more weeks, what is the harm in that?

The decisions of the US do in fact impact the fate of the world. As just one example, both Bush and Obama's policies and decisions have contributed directly to the situation in Iraq and Syria. The current state of affairs in the Middle East is having a huge ripple effect throughout the rest of the world, including Western Europe and the US. If I am being silly with hyperbole, you are being far too casual about the gravity of a US election. Having to wait a few more weeks to verify accuracy is nothing but a slight inconvenience. The Popular vote matters because the electoral college is not reflecting the will of the majority of Americans. It is self-serving for supporters of the candidate favored by a minority to complain about a recount. If we are going to have a system that rewards a less popular candidate because of the way we decided to split up the votes, then we better make sure that vote count is correct.
The EC is not going anywhere. It has been explained why the system is in place. If Trump won the popular vote and Hillary won the EC, you'd have absolutely no problem with the results.
