You know that all of us Admins (including the illustrious Administrator) have a conference call every night to decide the fate of the BBS. It usually consists of BK cursing the telephone for not being cordless, Clutch making only typing sounds because he is now permanently fused to his keyboard via implants, Will clicking over to his third line to do an interview on C-NBC with George Will and Al Sharpton, Administrator sobbing hysterically over his lack of authority in the group and me fending off a cat with one hand and typing with the other while screaming at Cuttino to give up the damn ball.

It is our master plan to...

Did demos get mad at Newt for his book deal? I thought it had something to do w/ his stealing money from public education (or in finer print for going up against Bill ).

Will Tom Daschle hurt his rep w/ funeralgate? How can the democrats not look like hypocrites when the subject of Bush's perjury comes up? Hmmmmm.

I'd say yes they did. Personally, I think both deals have a problem.... The issue here is that if you allow it, it basically opens a backdoor to campaign contributions and such.

Suppose the book company has legislation affecting them coming up ... You can't give congressmen/women money, so just sign them to book deals... That type of thing.

Anytime a public servant is involved in the corporate private sector, you have potential conflicts of interest. For the most part, it can be more easily be ignored because the relationship existed before the person took office. However, when corporations start "employing" people while in Congress, you have all sorts of potential conflict issues.

Same thing could be said of Republicans. Unfortunately, that's the reality of politics ... If that does come up, both parties will swap positions, accuse each other of being hypocrites, and the public will just ignore it...

What more do you need? Who the hell cares if Hillary gets a book deal? She deserves it. Its not going to stop her from doing a damn fine job as senator. She's not senator yet anyway.

It's amazing how you can, in the same sentence, refer to Gingrich as "Speaker" and yet omit "Senator" from Hillary.
