Richardson is "white-looking?" He looks like an overweight Native American to me... He holds the records for most handshakes too.
I think it's probably more just because she's not, at least to people outside of NYC I guess, all that inspiring. When I think of great leaders, Hillary is nowhere near the top of my list. Which means she'll probably win.
I can't believe I'm actually in the position of defending Hillary Clinton right now. She's not a good public speaker IMO, that's pretty obvious. However, she has seriously done an amazing job for NY since she became Senator. We all knew she carpetbagged here to use us as a platform for the Oval Office, but she worked her behind off for us, and in the process showed herself as more of a pragmatists than most of us GOPers thought. She is verygood at working to get things done.
I'd be shocked if a liberal won the nomination and didn't pick Evan Bayh as his/her running mate to "balance the ticket". He'd be a top 4 or 5 choice now, and might take Iowa (his part of the country) and New Hampshire (conservative) outright. When he dropped out, it said to me that he was hoping to get the VP nod. Side note: Did you hear Senator Hutchison's comments about a VP nod? She gave one of those non-committal answers that says she wants it.
I couldn't say one way or another about this...could be true, but who knows. Pretty much everyone who is running for President and even has a shot should have this kind of record for their "home" state already. It should be a default. If people in your own state don't love you and the work you've done, no one else will.
Speaking of Democratic presidential wannabes shooting themselves in the foot! via TPM -- What a way for Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) to roll out his presidential campaign. Here he is on Barack Obama: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy... I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” -- Paul Kiel
I think the people that won't vote for her because she is a woman are the same people that don't vote for democrats period. The people who are going to decide this election are going to be the moderates. Hillary and Obama are going to be the smartest candidates from either party and that is what this country needs. Mccain is going to crash and burn because he sold out and Guliani's past is going to haunt him when the bright lights come on. You have to remember that Clinton was leading Guliani in the NY senate race before he pulled out. I'm not sold on Hillary because she can be unispiring at times, but I don't question her qualifications or compassion. The best thing I can say is no one could be worse that George W.
