And is that going to happen under Hilary's plan? Read it again. You'll probably pay more under her proposals.
Most plans that I've heard thrown around are modeled after Germany's (the one that's generally thought to be most efficient). In that, they require every employer to provide healthcare for employees, and the taxpayers only directly pay for healthcare for the unemployed.
Well, it failed because it was a piss poor system that fed the beast of insurance companies and managed care. At the same time of Hillary's health care plan search, a few states were running their own employer mandates (almost all way better than the proposed national one) and the businesses were generally fine with it. They are mostly providing the coverage now, anyway. Hillary care failed because it was heavily flawed and not really about universal coverage, not because it was an employer mandate (I sound as if I am supporting one, but I am not...just pointing out differences).
yeah, because not wanting to pay taxes is the same as not expecting to get sick... ...oh wait, no its not.
Tell me how you would handle a major sickness? You will lose your insurance after you could not work for a long period of time, after that you are totally f*****. I have heard tons of stories like this. For the richest nation in the history of human kind to not be able to provide health care for the most needy people is just not right in my mind.
As long as everyone in the country is insured, I am all for it. Just because a child is born to a poor family does not mean they should not get care. A national healthcare system is needed..... DD
This is all premature. Once tort reform kicks in, medical services will be so much cheaper. (p.s. -- i'm not for forcing businesses to pay these costs...small businesses stop offereing it because they can't afford it any longer. that problem doens't go away because you make them do it.)
yeah you have heard all the horror stories. why? because they are more entertaining than the positive stories (yes, they are out there) when insurance does follow through. and you dont automatically lose your insurance after long periods without work..
so the child gets coverage...but what about when one becomes an adult? isnt it time to "cut the cord" and handle your own responsibilities at some point?
Yes, cut the cord of course. If you are working for someone like MacD you have no one to blame but yourself for not having insurance (or not enough insurance). If you are sick, you should just take some over the counter drug, if that didn't work, you should just prepare for your funeral.
The benefit to society .. . . for me. . . is this I would rather allow them to have some health care than taking the chance that Typhoid Mary comes begging me for money Just because someone else is irresponsible I don't think it is right that society be put at risk by not having people have health care the long term cost to society out wiegh the short term cost IMO Rocket River
This wouldn't be such a big deal if Americans at a healthy diet and exercised. Most American just coast through life eating junk, fast food, drinking alcohol, smoking, etc.. and then they panic when something goes wrong with their health, then immediately want to go to their docter and get some type of prescription drug to solve their problems. I believe that healthcare in america is so expensive based on what I said above and that politicians should focus their attention on the price of healthcare in the US and the causes for the high prices and come up with a plan to combat this. If we give everyone free healthcare then people will even be less likely to do preventative maintenance and take care of themselves and it will only make things worse.
How can the same bunch who has messed up Veteran's Administration health care so badly be expected to get it right for the entire nation?
So . .. basically you saying. . .American aren't do preventative maintenance NOW and If they get healthcare they will do less then? I don't beleive that esp when it comes to their kids Rocket River
