It's public knowledge I was not a big fan of Hill when he arrived. I read he showed up to rookie camp out of shape which made me think he was lazy to boot. I also watched him play a few games in New York and he looked disinterested. I later watched him show that attitude on our bench and thought this kid was a bust. His first games with us he looked uncoordinated and a little slow to react to me. I judged him on that but really that was understandable. He hadn't played much at all with the Knicks and he had to learn a totally new system and really focus on defense. Still he did improve over the course of the short time he played for us. ANd now they say he has been working hard on the court and in the weight room. But areas he needed improvement. Unlike before when a judged the man without seeing a real sample of his work, I am much more optimistic. But I am not delusional. I don't expect him to be bosh. He will never be as explosive as Landry. He isn't a natural center. He needs a lot of time maybe years of dedication in the weight room to really be a presence in the paint. His defense was poor last season and expect it will take time before it is adequate. But I am positive and unlike many here my expectations are a bit lower but I am very excited he will be a good addition. If we have to use Hill to get another big it better be very obvious that player is better because I am now a Hill fan. And I want to see this kid improve on our team. I very much hope I am wrong and he makes me look stupid again and becomes a tier 1 player.
are you kidding me?!? Jordan Hill already has a great outside touch, we didn't get to see much of it last year, but that was one of his strengths coming out of college. Just look at his pre-draft workout with the Wizards in last years draft: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Y7ykFtorR7I&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Y7ykFtorR7I&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> ....... IMO in order for Jordan to reach Chris Bosh's level, I think he need's to develop his face up game a lot more, as well as his foot work. Also another thing would be his hand's need to get a lot better! --RB
guys i never said this yes hill has very good potential to better than bosh...i seent that guy on collage and NBA during rockets game and yes...he just need more time...(minutes)

I think Hill will be an amazing player, I do think he has FRANCHISE potential. In fact I think he just had an unfair shake in NY and showed some real flashes of brilliance here in Houston. The dude has a good outside shot, he hustles, he rebounds, blocks shots, is incredibly athletic, and he seems humble yet hungry. We are lucky to have him.
So if Hill doesn't get that good, we'll all say he had the potential and he just didn't live up to it. If he does, then we'll all feel really good about ourselves and how wise we are. I honestly don't have a clue. I'm a completed biased observed who seen very little of Hill, what his work ethicis, and don't have a crystal ball to determine how any of that could change in the future. I don't really see much point in evaluating his future potential unless it pertains whether its wise to include him a trade, or how many minutes should be playing.
jordan hill Well with all the crazy free agency officially over we can now get back to our beloved Rockets. I have a little info on jordan hill I got from my buddys dad who refs highschool basketball. I actually ran into him last night and he told me that he had just got done with a rockets scrimmage game for all the rockets young players and he was the referee for it. I asked him a few questions about it and he told me cbudd looked good still skinny which kinda disappoints me but was still very effective hitting shots from all over but what really struck me was the praise he had for jordan hill he said he looked like he was at least 270lbs and was a beast in the rockets scrimmage. When I heard this I was very excited as I now think jordan hill is our best young prospect who could take the leap into a very good player like brooks did last year. I know its not much info but it got me excited and I really can't wait to see this team in action
He was compared to Chris Bosh when he first entered the league http://www.nbadraft.net/players/jordan-hill I think maybe a better comparison would be LaMarcus Aldridge, at least offensively. Both already have a mid-range game, long arms, athletic, and move well for their size. I think Jordan's defense will be much better than both Aldridge and Bosh though, if only he bulks up. He already has good timing, and quick leaping ability. The Rockets are one of the best teams in player development. We turned late-first round pick Aaron Brooks into a border-line all-star, second round pick Carl Landry into a reliable 4th quarter scorer, and second round pick Chase Budinger into a solid role player (expecting an even bigger role next year). You can include Kevin Martin as well, late first-round pick. With the Kings, it was Rick Adelman who developed him into the super-scorer he is now. Imagine what the Rockets can do with a top 8 pick.
Maybe he had weights tied into his dreadlocks. Still ignoring the lack of the referee losing out on his carnival weight guessing career.......the info about him dominating is very encouraging. DD
People forget that Jordan Hill was a lottery pick. I don't know what will happen with him, but he could definetly explode. He has all the tools....
Yeah I am sure he is mistaken. But the good point is he looks heavier and that makes me excited. The Knicks complained he came into camp out of shape. That doesn't appear to be the case now. Anyway we'll know soon enough. Psyched to watch summer league. Forget Bosh he is an attention w**** that we don't need.
I don't know... I gained a whole lot of weight after I moved here (thanks to chicken-fried steaks and koulaches).
looking at his size, and his game.. i think he has more potential to be an ALONZO MOURNING type player. In order to reach ZO's potential, his defense needs to improve like crazy, but at least offensively for now, more of ZO MOURNING than Bosh.
