^ Agree with DFWRocket A few of these clips would make great quick hit, attention getting ads. In the mold of 'WTF did I just watch' but people would remember them.
I thought it was funny and well done.... I am wondering if there is a generational gap or something because it is hilarious..... but then again my nuts have fallen, some maybe some of the pre puberty posters did not like it.
I respect what and how it was done, just felt it was over the top and/or too much. Like others said, if you shortened it to about 60 seconds with the cream of the crop you'd have a completely different outcome. Either way, kudos for effort and support SA. Huge respect for doing something creative in your spare time. I just sit on my ass.
Thanks for the kudos but I can't take any credit. I didn't make or appear in the ad -- which was not really made in order to sell beer but because St. Arnold thinks we're funny and asked us to do it. And it wouldn't have been a matter of being creative in my spare time as I'm the artistic director of the theatre and it would have been a function of my job. I just farmed it out. I don't do anything in my spare time except come to this site, hang out with my sweetheart and our pets, and watch Rockets games. Oops. Scratch that. Used to watch Rockets games, that is. Way back when the games used to be on TV.
In the ad, yes. But that only included about 10% of our artists. Our most recent play featured two black guys, two Latino guys, a Latino woman, and an Asian woman. And also about six or eight white people. Our sound designer was a Latino woman also. We're not as diverse as we'd like to be but we don't only have one token black guy. You're right about the ad though.
Batman, I googled the theater and the site doesn't work well on my phone. Is that the old Downtown Grounds location? Congrats on the new place.
A 3 minute commercial?? I stopped watching at a minute. It was not funny at all, it was boring and trying too hard.
It's actually the old Diverse Works. And thanks. I can't remember if Downtown Grounds used to be there or not. Sorry the site's not working well. It usually does. We also have a facebook page you can find here: https://www.facebook.com/TheCatastrophicTheatre
this is a funny beer commercial <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_GbHpqfv9is" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Ah. Okay thanks. Diverse Works was on the opposite side of Downtown from Downtown Grounds. I wish you guys well in the new place. If you hung out at any of those places, we may have some friends in common.
I expect so. I used to book, bartend and live at The Axiom when it was called Catal Huyuk. My old company was called Infernal Bridegroom and we occupied The Axiom for several years too. Before that we did plays at Commerce St. Art Warehouse, Zocalo/Templo, Last Concert Cafe, Rudyards, Atomic Cafe, The Artery, all over. I also wasted my youth on Lexington, going from the Sprawl house to the de Schmog house to the Dry Nod house. p.s. You're old.
