Right on! Has anybody tried KFC's new grilled chicken? They don't have it at any locations in my area yet.
This was not funny at all. I go to school in Atlanta and my roommate told me about the promotion the day of the promotion. So we proceed to go to Popeyes where there are 30 people standing in line (mostly black) and cars wrapped all the way around the restaurant. I had to wait an hour for 8 f'ckin pieces of chicken. And the other people waiting were getting pretty angry too. The Popeyes I was at, for some reason, didn't have a 1 8piece limit, so people were ordering 2-4 boxes at a time and holding everything up. It was chaos there. Customers would come in, see the 30 people waiting, have the cashiers tell them it'd be an hour wait, and yet the customers would still order 3 boxes of chicken and get in line. I'm never going to Popeyes ever again for a promotion like this again. That being said, the chicken I brought home was delicious.
I love popeyes...they ran out, which isn't a big deal assuming they advertised "while supplies last"...no rainchecks?
I never go for promotions- people always go crazy over free/cheap stuff and its never worth the wait. One a side note- it is kinda funny, I mean you're complaining about people waiting in line, and yet you waited for an hour yourself.
I should clarify. Early on when I got there, the estimated wait time was about 20min. I was fine with that. Two things happened that made my wait closer to an hour. First, they didn't fill orders by ticket number. When ever a batch of chicken was ready, they'd yell out "who got dark meat" and whoever yelled back got that particular box of chicken. So you really had to be in the front and aggressive to get your order filled. Secondly, the wait time just got longer as people who'd ordered 3 boxes got their order's filled in front of me. The entire batches of chicken were probably 4-5 boxes worth and took ~10min to prepare. So if a guy ordered 2 boxes of spicy and one of mild then he basically took half an entire batch of chicken for himself. I never expected to wait an hour or else I would have left without even ordering. That being said when your standing right in front of the counter even after 30 minutes, you expect your order to be filled relatively soon. It was not.
I love Popeye's, but they are few and far between in my area. The last time I went (a year ago?) all the pieces looked like they came from a midget chicken. Is this a new trend? Are they using smaller pieces now? And every Popeye's (and Arby's) I've ever been to is slow as hell. I can't imagine going to one for this deal.
The Pop-eyes I go to have this Tuesday special that is similar to that special, I think. I love Pop-eyes and Church's for the actual chicken. KFC got some good side order. I hate how Pop-eyes charge for damn barbecue sauce.
I love Popeye's, and don't really care for any of the other fast food chicken places. BUT, they are out of what I order WAY too often. Last time I was there, they didn't have any spicy dark meat chicken, and only one piece of spicy white meat chicken. Seems weird they run out so much considering how cheap chicken is when bought by the thousands. They should also have little packets or their seasoning salt for when they're out of the spicy chicken.
