I can see why some people may think its offensive, but its reality that some people are heavy...Genes/metabolism are some culprits, but without a proper diet and exercies, people will be heavy...Heavier people have to work twice as hard to obtain a small fraction of results than someone with better genes/metabolism... It's just a game and if you don't like it, don't buy it...
This is the absolute truth. Granted, people have different metabolisms and some are luckier than others, but if you eat correctly and exercise moderately, YOU WILL NOT BE FAT. When I read DrexlerFans first post, I knew Isabel would be in this thread. She admitted in another thread that she "LOVES FOOD" and then she continues to blame it on her genetics or "build" for being overweight. And now shes offended by a video game? I'm sorry Isabel, but you seem really bitter about your weight problems, and it appears you try to pass blame on everything other than your own habits. Eat right and exercise moderately, hell even 3-4 times per week would do. There is scientific proof that you can change your metabolism. I'd be willing to bet that if you did this, you'd lighten up about things like fat cake eating princesses in a freaking video game.
I just realized that I decided to be offended about that fat guy in street fighter II because I've been on the road for work for the past 2 months and I haven't been working out much and I've been eating out every single night and I've gained about 10 pounds and an inch or so on my waist. Damn Genetics!
"It's my metabolism!" Sound familiar? If you're carrying some extra pounds (and having a hard time losing them), it's tempting to put the blame on a sluggish metabolism. But is your metabolism really the reason it's often so hard to lose weight? And, more important, is there anything you can do about it? read the rest here... Make the Most of Your Metabolism
I never understood this mantra. Video games should be subject to less review because it's not "serious"? As for not liking it, I never said I didn't like it. I'm up for a little video game culinary rape fantasy.
As for metabolism, as someone who is perpetually thin no matter how much fat and sugar I eat and how little exercise I get, I think you can put some blame on metabolism. Maybe, it is possible for someone cursed with a slow metabolism to keep their weight down with rigorous diet and exercise, but it is a whole heck of a lot harder for them than it is for me. I know I don't have the fortitude to sustain even the failing regimens I've seen some people try.
I'm sorry...my metabolism sucks. It used to be good. It sucks because I got lazy and ate like crap. Now it's hard to jump start my metabolism again. I'm heavier than I should be on my 6'1 heavy frame at 260. I know I can lose the weight if I really tried, but I have not really tried, and it is MY FAULT. Now, back on the topic of video games and stereotypes...I have a problem with there NOT being any Mexican video game chacters. I know we're lazy, but too lazy to be a character in a video game or something? At least a cameo of us napping on a curbside wearing a sombrero, nursing a bottle of mezcal...c'mon...
There's always "Spanish for Everyone" which features many Mexican characters. There's the Mexican boy that steals a kids DS, an slutty looking aunt that drops the kid off at the Mexian border so he can search for his DS, and the drug smuggling guy that helps him in Mexico. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GpCusEFG6I
I think some people need to deal with their own prejudices (and insecurities) before getting morally outraged over something as trivial as a video game.
Dude. You're the only one here who has mentioned or even associated this with a rape fantasy. Count me in as another person who is saying "WTF" Your fixation on that is weird and unsettling.
QFT. Too many people use the "metabolism" argument to cover up their poor eating/exercising habits. Not being able to eat fast food and sugar-laden snacks without gaining weight isn't considered having a poor metabolism, it is considered being a normal human being. Only a small percentage of Americans have medical-based problems that affect their metabolism, and most of those people can still maintain a healthy weight by simply eating a healthy diet and performing regular exercise. A person's metabolism can also be changed: Increasing the amount of lean tissue in your body will increase your metabolism.
I can see how fat princesses would get offended by this. As for the metabolism/weight thing: everyone is different. Some people have to study more than others, but they can both get good grades. Some people aren't as talented at basketball as others, but they can still make the NBA through practice and dedication (why the hell else is flyin' Ryan Bowen in this league?).
I didn't get offended by this. If I was overweight, I'm not sure I would be offended. Like DD said, it's just a video game so I don't care.
