I was really fat growing up and i now know that some of that is genetics BUT if you eat right and exercise YOU WILL NEVER BE OBESE. It really sickens me to see people try to defend weight problems in the same way they do race, gender, and sexuality issues. I think it hurts the cause more than anything. Growing up no one accommodated me or made me feel like it was OK to be fat because it is NOT. It leads to numerous health problems. Maybe if more entertainment poked fun at obese people it would give them the motivation to improve their situation. Also what's with all this stereo type crap. In video games i've seen far more fat guys being portrayed in a comical way. I'm trying hard to remember when there was ever a time when a women was portrayed in that way in a video game. I can't. I assume you would have been fine with the character being a guy. Besides i see more women being nitpicky about size than anyone else. I think a while back Beyonce had gained like 15 lbs and the only people i heard say anything about it were women. This is just stupid. It would be like if there was a black guy in a video game who was portrayed as a gangster in a negative way. That wouldn't be offensive to me. In fact it happens all the time. Just cause its a black guy doesn't make it right to be a gangster. Folks, wrong is wrong. Despite what Rosie O'Donnell and Mo'nique try to tell you, it is not OK to be obese. It is not genetic to be obese and if you cram cakes down you're throat like in this game you WILL be obese. If anything this game could be a vehicle to teach kids about over eating.
You know what. You're right. Here's my list of and reasons why these other video games should be banned: Mario Bros. - it is unfair to stereotype Italians as moustache wearing, spaghetti eating plumbers who a talka lika dees. The boss, Bowser, is also fat. They are trying to say all fat people are evil. Ninja Turtles Arcade - You cannot fight as April. She is a girl and this shows that they think the male turtles are better than her. She is also contantly objectified as a love interest for the turtles. The Adventures of the Little Mermaid - Ursula is a fat, evil woman. Her portrayal is downright offensive. Don't even get me started on Ms. Pacman.
This just in: CNN- Casino workers being sued for harassment when they were talking about "FAT PRINCESS" video game at a table full of skinny ladies who spoke Spanish. Hi-Yo! First we lose Ricki Lake, then Linsey Lohan, then Sarah Rue, then Star Jon... well, maybe not her... and now they get offended 'cuz we enshrine them in a video game? Next Paula Jones' hit: "Where have all the fatties gone?"
As mocking and dismissive as your tone was, you actually raised some good points. I wonder why Ursula isn't an attractive, evil woman? Right, because it's far less acceptable for women to be fat, so the coupling of fat and evil makes a lot more sense. I wonder why you can't fight with April? Because she's a girl. And girls can't fight, obviously. What kind of **** is this teaching girls in our society? Look at a game like Mario Bros - a noble and heroic man must save the helpless damsel in distress. Teaching girls that they need to be saved, that they can't possibly kick ass like guys can.
This has to be sarcasm, right? Evil people are usually fat because it shows that they're gluttons, and we associate that with a sin. April doesn't fight because she's friends with MUTANT TURTLES WHO ARE NINJAS. That makes her smart, not weak. And Princess, well, people have been saving princesses for years in stories and games, so whatever. And you can play as her in Mario 2. And she was probably the best character in the game if you just spam her flying skills. So there. (even though you surely must've been being sarcastic) LOL, that pretty much sums up my feelings. I don't see what the complaint is. I mean, what else is the princess supposed to do? She can't fight the enemies, she's a girl.
All I know is that game looks kinda fun the style is cool and it looks to be cartoonish but blood is all over the place. It's not a game for kids, adults should know the difference between a game and real life so stop complaining. If people take it seriously they're r****ds.
Usually a fat dude in a sitcom who has a hot wife means that he's funny. When Mo'nique starts being funny she can feel free to cast Denzel as her husband in a sitcom.
Worst video game ever! I can see Isabel's point on this and I often feel fat people especially women are treated pretty poorly by this culture. That said is this game something to get that worked up over?
OMFG....get over it...... This is a funny game, with a unique and funny take on rescuing the Princess. Sometimes I think people have lost their sense of humor. So WHAT, if she is a fat Princess.....IT IS A FRICKEN VIDEO GAME !!! DD
But she does... She makes this big hoopla about how she's so into the 'big is beautiful' but all the love interests on her shows/movies are in pretty good shape. So, her message is basically that its acceptable to be fat as a woman but not as a man. No that's what i call reverse discrimination.
I don't see the problem being that they cast a fat woman for the game. But, the premise is that, for your own selfish ends, you take a woman and throw her in prison and force her to be fat. The woman is objectivized because her existence is a means to an end; she is a pawn in capture-the-flag and you inflict cruelty on your own princess so she won't be captured by the enemy. (There is also as aspect of rape-fantasy in forcing an imprisoned woman to eat against her will.)
VIDEO GAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure people killing others in Call of Duty understand that it is not real, and that they are not real terrorists they are killing. It is entertainment, satire, comedy, fun.......... And, if people don't like it.....don't buy it..... DD
I bet this game sells twice as many copies due to the press it has received. The video game developers are going to ride this "controversy" all the way to the bank.
Yeah it's crazy people get worked up over this video game... What really get's me pissed is seeing an overweight parent feed their lil kid Mcnuggets and fries and then say it being heavy runs in their family.
